“Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit,
and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly,
to make known the mystery of the gospel.”
(Ephesians 6:18-19)
In 2014, I was diagnosed with a lesion in my right eye; because of this, I have had to make many trips to my eye doctor, Byron Deutschmann. The eye injections he gives me help to keep the lesion inactive. About a year ago, the Lord convicted me about witnessing to him. I prayed for wisdom about how to go about it because he is a Catholic, and many of them are very defensive here. Because of the distance, I always take one of my daughters with me on a “date.” This time it was Charity’s turn, and as is often the case, she took a book along. When Dr. Byron saw her reading a book, he asked her if she liked to read. When she replied in the affirmative, he began to refer several books to her, many of which were biographies of Bible characters. This opened the door for me to be able to share the Gospel with him, after which he thanked me, and we left. The next week when I went in for another appointment, the first thing he told me was, “Thank you so much for what you shared with me last week; ever since then, I have had a great peace in my heart.” I couldn’t believe it. I didn’t have much time to talk to him this time because I was on my back in the operating room having a cyst removed from my eye. However, the next week when I went in, I gave him a book that dealt with salvation. He thanked me profusely and told me that he would read it the next day on a trip he planned to take to Belize. I am not sure if he got saved, but would you please pray with me that I get another chance to talk to him about salvation when I go back for another checkup later in the year?
This last Saturday while soul winning, I knocked on a door, but no one answered. I started to leave, when my soul-winning partner said to me, “Let’s see if someone is out back.” I reluctantly followed him. Then when we faced two dogs barking ferociously at us, I said, “Let’s go!” He lowered a backpack he had to protect himself and kept going forward, hollering to see if anyone was home. Just then, a young lady came out and said, “I know you. You went to the church I used to go to. My name is Aracely.” He talked to her for a minute, trying to remember who she was, when her mother came out and invited us in. After he got reacquainted with the family, he asked if he could share something with her from the Bible. She agreed, and after about 30 minutes, Aracely was wonderfully saved. As we got in our car to leave, he said just one word, “Boldness.” I needed to be reminded of that. I would appreciate it if you would pray with me “. . . that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel.” So many still need to hear.
Lord willing, by the first of July, we will have finished the foundation for our house. It has been quite challenging because we are in the middle of our rainy season, and we have been having a wet one. We are very thankful for those of you who have given towards this project and for those of you who have expressed a desire to come down on a missions trip to help. If you are still thinking about planning one, we would love to have you. You can reach me by email at wilderdaniel@hotmail.com or by phone at 011-502-4037-1384 or 360-515-7895. We would love to hear from you.
His for souls,
