“. . . assuredly gathering that the Lord had called us for to preach the gospel unto them.”
(Acts 16:10)
Leading people to Christ is an adventure. I never know what will happen when I ask someone if they know for sure they will go to Heaven, but I do know that when I lead a person to Christ, I have taken part in the most important thing that can be done in this life.
As I watched an elderly lady with a cane slowly cross a six-lane highway with no crosswalk, I thought, I had better talk to her before something bad happens. When I finally found her, she was sitting along the side of a building, resting in the shade. Her name was Deborah, and she allowed me to explain the Gospel to her and then pray with her to receive Christ into her heart as her Saviour. When we finished praying, she giggled, like something had tickled her. It turns out that crossing that highway to catch a bus on the other side has been her routine for many years.
Since the last update, the Lord has used me personally to lead 33 people to Christ. It was after midnight when I stopped at a grocery store. At the register, with no one else waiting in line, I asked the cashier if she would go to Heaven. She said she did not know and allowed me to explain the Gospel to her. When I finished, she wanted to pray, but a customer was coming. So, we prayed quickly. When we finished praying, she shook her hands and motioned up and down her body and said, “Wow! I felt that all over.” She then thanked me, we fist-bumped, and with a smile on her face, she turned to help the next customer.
Island Baptist Church has had new visitors recently; one of our faithful families is bringing them to church. Our folks continue to attend faithfully and see the Lord working in their lives, which is a great blessing!
We heard that the young man, who had refused to “drink” with his relatives while visiting the States, was baptized recently. We are pleased to know that he continued to take another step forward with the Lord in his life.
One of our faithful men occupies a prominent position at his employment, overseeing a group of federal contractors. He is younger than the contractors, and at first, they thought they were going to “get their way.” He quickly earned their respect by holding them accountable to the specifications of the contracts. The Lord has truly blessed his faithfulness, hard work, and diligence; it is clear that he fears God, not man.
Thank you for faithfully supporting our ministry and for praying for us. The Lord placed us in Guam to reach Micronesia with the Gospel, with many being here from the small islands.
