Another exciting month of deputation has come and gone. My heart is full as I recount the ways that God has blessed us in February. We received confirmation that two more churches have taken us on for support, and another has pledged to support our work once we get to the field, bringing the total of new supporters this year to five! Please continue to pray that God will keep increasing our support percentage.
Our meetings began in East Texas at Central Baptist Church in Center, Texas. This opportunity came as a result of dropping in during an open service we had in our schedule. Pastor Dodson graciously allowed us to stay a week in their lovely prophet’s chamber as well. We moved on to Tyler, Texas, the following weekend. We made it into town in time to go out soul winning with the folks at Woodland Hills Baptist Church where our next meeting was. Liz and I got to go out with Pastor Ogdie’s kids who work on the bus routes of the church. Their excitement and enthusiasm for soul winning was enough to make it a good day, but the best part of all was getting to meet and lead a man named Eric to Christ. Please pray that he will take the next step, and many more thereafter, in obedience to Christ. I presented our work the next day to the church. We headed next to Wiggins, Mississippi, for the missions conference of Red Creek Baptist Church where Brother Rayburn pastors. We had a great week getting to know the church family and had the most delicious, make-you-eat-way-too-much meals that week. I got to present our work on the Sunday morning of the last day of the meeting. We’re thankful for their hospitality and the beautiful cottage they allowed us to stay in that week.
Between meetings, both my wife and I became ill with a nasty bug. Thankfully, we were staying at our sending church and not some obscure place where we couldn’t get any help. (If you prayed for us the last full week of February, I can’t thank you enough because we had a pretty tough time!) It was disappointing because I was all set to go with some of the folks from St. Amant Baptist and other churches in the Gulf Coast Region to New Orleans for a soul-winning blitz that happens each year. The Lord apparently had other plans for me. We closed out the month with the missions conference at Oak Grove Baptist Church in Franklinton, Louisiana, where Bro. Dantin pastors a great congregation of people. Again, we were spoiled by the church family and pastor. The fellowship was extra special because we had so many missions-minded people who love the Lord. Thanks for being faithful. Keep the prayers coming. “The LORD bless thee, and keep thee: The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee.” (Numbers 6: 24-25)
