“Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.” (I Corinthians 15:58) What a busy quarter this has been! PRAISE THE LORD!!! At the very end of December, we signed papers for a five-year lease on a rental property just a hop, skip, and jump away from our team at Fundamental Baptist Church International. This was a HUGE answer to prayer.
At our New Year’s Eve service, we announced we had the keys to the property. Without announcing any plans, our people were discussing a workday on the property. The very next day, we were surprised to have a large group of our church members show up to clean up the property. Since then, with the help of FBCI and our church members, we have built a pavilion in the yard for a larger, outside meeting place and have done some much-needed maintenance on the property. Last Sunday, we held our first service on the new property. It’s far from being done; however, the joy and enthusiasm from our Deaf members in having their own church building was a blessing to see. We are extremely thankful for your faithful support, as we were immediately able to purchase 100 chairs. Please pray that God will fill each and every chair as our church continues to go forth with the Gospel.
At the end of January, we hosted one last food giveaway in the city of Tema, about five to six hours from us, with Missionaries Fredrick and Antoinette Kearney. We were blessed to see their strong desire for reaching the Deaf in their community. With the help of our men, Jonathan and Ali, and Lighthouse Baptist Church, we were able to share the Gospel and provisions with about 140 Deaf people in Tema. The Kearneys also invited us to participate in their annual Missions Conference. During this week, we were able to visit the local Deaf school, where 12 put their faith in Christ. Bro. Kearney has been invited back to preach through an interpreter. Please pray for Lighthouse Baptist Church, as they have already started a sign language class and have had Deaf coming to visit their church.
If you recall back in October, we hosted a food giveaway about two hours away at a private Deaf school in Obuasi. We have kept in contact with Genevieve, the headmistress, who is also Deaf. It was during our campaign that Genevieve put her faith in Christ alone for salvation. Now that the schools are open, we have begun a monthly Bible study there. We praise God for the opportunity not only to preach in the school but also to give the leaders of the church another opportunity to minister to others. I love watching these men grow in grace.
Thank you for your continued prayers and support. Please pray for these new ministries and the completion of work at our church property. As far as furlough, we had hoped to reschedule this year. However, we truly feel like this would not be the wisest time to leave. We were sincerely looking forward to seeing everyone once again. Please pray for us, as we are aiming for furlough in 2022.
