Thank you for holding us up in prayer and for making it financially possible for us to serve where God has placed us.
We have been praying that God would make it possible for us to find a house on the ground floor. For over four years, we lived in a second-floor apartment. We enjoyed the beautiful mountain scenery that surrounded us; however, it became increasingly challenging to negotiate the stairs. God answered our prayers, and we have moved into a nice house just 10 minutes from the church. Thank you for praying with us about this.
We were at home, getting settled into the house, for most of January. On January 29, we traveled about 300 miles south to Altamira, Tamaulipas, just outside of Tampico. We had a great Missions Conference with Pastor Julio Cesar Gutierrez. Mexican churches have begun to take seriously their responsibility of obeying the Great Commission. We are so privileged to have a part in teaching Bible principles concerning world evangelization.
From there we went to Durham, North Carolina, for a couples’ event with Pastor Marc Johnston. God blessed, and we believe that many marriages were strengthened by the teaching Emily and I were able to give them. Durham is only a few hours from Wilmington where Emily’s parents live. We were able to have a nice visit with them before returning home.
Our annual Fires of Evangelism Pastors’ and Workers’ Conference here at Mount Hebron was a great success. Ninety-three pastors, evangelists, and missionaries attended. More than 1,000 delegates attended the evening services, and 25 people surrendered to full-time service on Thursday evening, including our 12-year-old grandson, Jonathan, Jr. What a joy!
February 26-29, I went to Lima, Peru, for a Fires of Evangelism Conference with Bro. Zach Foust. I taught six times to pastors, laymen, and teens and preached four times. These conferences are having such a remarkable impact in the Spanish world. The wife of one of the missionaries who attended told me that she had surrendered to full-time service in a Fires of Evangelism Conference 12 years before, and now she and her husband are missionaries from Mexico to Peru.
Emily and I will be in the Servants’ Conference in the Spanish Department of First Baptist Church of Hammond, Indiana (our sending church), March 18-21. Please pray that God will use us to challenge His people in their service to Him.
Emily and I plan to help in the 5-Day Bible Clubs here at Mount Hebron March 26-30. These clubs have always been so effective in reaching children whose parents would not be inclined to allow them to come to church, but who would let them go to a neighbor’s yard or patio to hear Bible stories and the plan of salvation. Thousands have been reached with the Gospel through these meetings. Please pray for a great harvest in this year’s clubs.
Our summer schedule is full, and we are looking forward to what God will do. Both of us are dealing with some health issues that need your prayers.
Thank you for what you do to make it possible for us to represent you in such a needy field.
