“. . . the goodness of God endureth continually.” (Psalm 52:1)
Dear Friends and Supporting Churches,
I am forever grateful to our wonderful God and Saviour for His faithfulness in caring for our needs each and every day. Truly His mercies are new every morning, and we thrill to see His mighty working in our lives and in the life of our church here in Guatemala.
Attendance:
We are praying for a doubled church attendance this year. We will be having a Mother’s Day event on the 25th of this month; please pray. Also, our church holds a soul-winning program on Saturdays and Sundays. The Sunday soul-winning group is increasing in attendance, and as a result we are seeing more people saved. Here’s a testimony from one of our soul winners:
Can’t Hide:
One of our soul winners knocked at the gate of a property. A child appeared, then ducked away and ran in the back to hide. But then, about a minute later, he returned with another child and came to the gate. The soul winner began witnessing to the eldest child, who was 12 years old. The whole time he was talking, the boy was smiling and looking behind the soul winner’s back. The soul winner finally turned around to see the boy’s mother, who had been there quietly listening to his message the whole time. The soul winner then began witnessing to this mother, whose name was Aleida. As he witnessed he could see the Lord opening up her heart as she heard the wonderful words of life. At the end she accepted Christ as her Saviour and thanked him profusely for having shown her the way of salvation. Here is a family that was hiding from God so that they could remain in darkness, but then God took them by the hand and gently led them into the light of life through His Word.
Brother Luis:
The situation continues the same for our jailed Brother Luis. He is in good spirits and winning souls, preaching, teaching, discipling, and doing the work of an evangelist behind bars. Brother Luis is a good soldier of Jesus Christ, faithfully serving the Lord of the harvest in a very unpleasant field. He says “Hello” to everybody and thanks you for your prayers for him and his family. He is trusting that God will justify the righteous and, by no means, clear the guilty. We are praying for him, for his family, and for the reconciliation of those who have sinned in this whole matter. The next court hearing will take place this month. Please pray!
Missions:
On a final note, our church is now supporting missionaries here in Guatemala, so by supporting us, you are also supporting other independent Baptist missionaries here as well. Spanish is not the only language spoken here; there are some 50 Indian languages spoken within these borders. We are a missions-minded church, as all of you are. Thank you for your prayers and support.
Sincerely,
Angel Lopez
