“But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
(I Corinthians 15:57)
Praise God for the victories when they come for every believer! Often, when looking upward for His leading, they seem to transpire in unexpected ways, and there has been no shortage of God’s intervention of blessings since this new year has begun, even in this part of the world where we literally get to hang upside down from off the underside of the earth. May one suggest that it even helps in brain power, since the blood does not have to work as hard in reaching one’s grey matter!
As a result of speaking at a men’s meeting back in December in the next town, I have been picking up a young man for church almost every Sunday since then. His name is also Andrew (28), and he gave me the privilege of sitting down with him at his home to give him assurance of his salvation.
I knew nothing of the outcome of a Sunday morning message the Lord allowed me to preach in late December, one that concluded with a challenge to unsaved folk to accept Christ. Lo and behold, a few days later, I learned that a single mom named Nicole had been led to the Lord by Pastor Westbrook’s wife following the conclusion of that same service. The following Sunday, she brought her mom and two young children. Then her mom got saved. To top it off, in utter awe of her commitment, Nicole drives 75 minutes each way from her home to make sure she and her children are in church under King James Bible preaching. As far as we know, Coastline Baptist Church is the only church, at least in northern Tasmania, which wholly teaches and preaches from the King James Bible.
In an effort to stay busy for the Lord, I am now teaching a weekly Sunday school class of junior-aged boys. A rather excitable bunch, presumably due to being homeschooled by faithful parents, they are keen to learn. While this may make my role a little easier, it is their enthusiasm which is compelling me to remain one step ahead of them when it come to the material the Lord is directing me to teach. Amen!
Prayer Requests
1. Pray that Andrew and other newly saved folk reached by our church would appreciate the need to get baptized.
2. Pray that we will see transformed lives amongst these junior-aged boys, given the ones I am teaching are already saved.
3. Pray that we will continue to see literal growth in the church, not just from the young families already in church but from new folk who are now attending services.
4. Pray that more of our members would get involved in our soul-winning program. We thank the Lord for the additional folk who are now joining us in this vital endeavor.
5. Pray that we would continue to see visitors, some from mainland states, here in Tasmania, especially during this summer period, and that some of them would come to know the Lord by getting saved.
Thank you to those of you who have communicated with me in recent months via cards, letters, and emails. Forgive me for any delay in responding, though I have endeavoured to take time to respond individually, including courtesy of the international “snail mail” service.
As always, your love, prayers, and ongoing monetary support are appreciated more than you may realize in the service of the Lord. There truly is no greater privilege than serving the Lord in what is nothing less than the greatest business in all the world. Amen!
All for His glory,
Bro. Andrew L. Steers
