“Grace be to you and peace from God the Father, and from our Lord Jesus Christ.” (Galatians 1:3)
Praise the Lord! We had a great start to the new year. Children’s Day was January 12 in Thailand, so on January 13, we had “Children’s Day Sunday.” We passed out flyers and invited many to come. The Lord blessed, and we had 130 in attendance on that day. There were almost as many adult visitors as there were visiting children. As we were out inviting people to come, we were near Khun Om’s home; she is one of the faithful members of our church. We sat down and began to share the Gospel with some people. As we were sharing the Gospel, one of the ladies we were talking with said, “This is what Khun Om told us. She told us about Jesus dying on the Cross and coming to life again and how our sins are paid for.” I asked, “What do you think about that?” She replied, “I believe it, but how can I go to Heaven?” What a joy it was to watch this lady and her daughter call on the Lord Jesus. An even greater joy was hearing that Khun Om was sharing Jesus with others. Amen, 10,000 Amens! I pray that Thailand would be filled with thousands and thousands and thousands of Khun Oms. It is a wonderful thing seeing those whom you are disciplining putting into practice the things they are learning.
Khon, a Thai young man, came to give a bid for some work we needed done at our house. Much to my delight, he spoke English—he had lived in Los Angeles for eight years. Before he left our home, I invited him to sit down and talk for a bit. Delightedly, he sat down. After conversing and getting to know him a little, I asked him if he would go to Heaven when he died. To which he replied, “No, but I want to.” I love hearing replies like that! Gently, I took time to share that old, old story we all know so well. Though it is an old story, it never gets old; it seems sweeter every time I tell it. After a little while, Khon bowed his head and called on the Lord Jesus to be his Saviour.
Praise the Lord for exciting news from the church plant in India! Pastor AJ reports every chair in his house was filled Sunday, and some people had to stand. He is very excited about what God is doing. However, when God is working, the Devil is too. AJ is receiving some problems from other “so-called” Christians in that area, telling him that he has to join their association. Please keep him and his wife in your prayers, as well as the church.
We have all been battling sickness in some form or another since we returned to the field. Please pray for us concerning this. Thank you for all your faithful prayers and support!
Yours for His harvest,
Andrew Long
