We thank the Lord for His many blessings on our efforts. During the months of September and October, we saw 881 precious souls profess faith in Christ.
Our annual Harvest Campaign is in full swing. Our church is divided into three teams, which try to accumulate the most points. They really love the friendly competition and do their best to win. During each Sunday evening service, the points are tallied to see which team is in the lead. The team with the least points for the week gets “punished” by standing under the balcony to get doused with something cold and wet. I’m amazed that some of the ladies, who obviously put a lot of effort into their hair and appearance, don’t seem to be bothered by this and take it good-naturedly.
We recently celebrated our second year of ministry at the Dasmariñas City Jail. We brought two inflatable swimming pools and baptized 53 faithful converts. The mayor of Dasmariñas City personally called the fire department and instructed them to provide the water to fill the pools. We had a lengthy testimony time from the inmates. It was very moving to hear of their heartbreaks and to see how the Lord is working in their lives.
After going soul winning in another city for several weeks, we have begun to have Bible studies on Saturdays. We are, with the Lord’s help, planning to start a church there.
We recently finished our missions conference. What a tremendous blessing! Our people pledged over $1,100 a month for Faith Promise, almost double the amount from our last missions conference. The conference also had the effect of a revival for our church. It was exciting to see the enthusiasm of our people during the preparations and the actual conference. We are already seeing the fruit; the actual giving of our people has greatly increased.
One of the great blessings we have seen is the continued growth in service and zeal of our adult members. Our men continue to take more of a leadership role and assume more responsibilities. The ladies are also doing much for the work with soul winning, visitation, Women’s Missionary Society, and many other important tasks. We are branching out into more areas and reaching more people, and much of the increased coverage of our ministry is being done by lay-workers.
We are raising funds to build an approximately 5,800-square-foot building. We are hoping to build it and move in this coming new year. If we could do that, it would save approximately $1,500 a month in rent and free up the money for other uses. We would appreciate your prayers for this endeavor, and if you could help financially, we would be very grateful.
Yours for souls,
Courtney & Ester Godsoe
