“Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God: I speak this to your shame.” (I Corinthians 15:34) Our theme for 2017 is “Providing the Word of God to Every Believer in All Nations.”
The first week in January, we received a call from my wife’s family saying that Jackie’s mother was very ill. We left immediately to travel to Quincy, Illinois, so she could spend the last days with her mom. Ernestine was 36 days away from being 101 years old when she passed away on January 13. I had the privilege to preach Ernestine’s funeral. Our three children were able to attend, and they blessed us by singing the song “What a Day That Will Be.” Seven people raised their hands confessing salvation at Mom’s Homegoing service. Though Ernestine forgot much about her past, she never forgot she was saved at the age of 13, and she could still quote Psalm 23,” The Lord’s Prayer,” and several Bible verses from memory.
I had cataract surgery in January. My vision had become very poor in my left eye, making it very difficult to read and very hard to see at night. But my recovery was quick, and I was on the road again in a short time.
We visited several new churches in East Texas in January, and I got to see many of my old preacher friends as well.
We appreciate your prayers for us as we continue to provide the Word of God to believers in all nations.
Into all the world,
Bob Bowen
