At this Thanksgiving season, we are thankful to God and to every one of you who are part of our support team. As we look back on the year 2014, we see how the hand of God has carried us through some very deep waters.
Bro. Luis
As most of you know, last January our assistant pastor, Bro. Luis, was arrested and jailed on what we believe to be a totally false accusation. It was a very dark and discouraging time for us here at the Independent Baptist Church of Cristo Rey. Nevertheless, we kept on going; and, like Joseph in Egypt, our Bro. Luis “girded up his loins” and went to work for God right there in the jail without any signs of discouragement . . . and with what results! As of now, he has seen over 50 converts saved through personal soul winning inside the prison and many people baptized. Recently the leaders of this prison church elected our Bro. Luis to be the instructor/trainer of all the local pastors who are operating throughout the various sectors of this huge prison. In addition, Brother Abad will preach to all 2,000 prisoners at one assembly hall somewhere inside the prison so that all of those prisoners will hear the message of salvation through this most unusual and unplanned ministry of our church. Only eternity will reveal the fruit that will be born from all of this.
There has also been a positive development in Brother Abad’s legal case. Last week in court, the judge accepted the evidence that Bro. Luis’s lawyer presented and rejected the false accusations presented by his accusers. That is the first positive legal development that has happened since this nightmare began. Your prayers are being answered.
Santa Catarina Pinula Mission
Our mission in the town of Santa Catarina Pinula continues to go on for the glory of God. It is our firm hope and prayer that this work will become strong in the Lord.
On a Final Note
Being mindful that a considerable number of churches have dropped us from their support, I want to personally thank the pastors and brethren of those churches that have maintained their support for us from the beginning. Perhaps we lost some support because I have not visited churches in person during the time I have been in Guatemala. Please know that I will be going on a mini-furlough from April l5 to May 7, 2015. I will be attending the graduation of my daughter Tabitha. If you would like for me to come and visit your church during that timeframe to personally update you and your people on our work, please let me know. My email address is angellopez@www.fbmi.org. We would be honored to visit you.
Thank you for your prayers, thank you for your financial support, and thank you for your sacrificial giving. May God bless you during the holidays.
Sincerely,
Angel Lopez, Guatemala.
