Tim and Christa Simmons Prayer Letter: Divine AppointmentDivine Appointment

We have tried our best to stay in touch with a family that we reached several years ago. They now live on the other side of our city. We just happened to be in their area on June 5, so we asked to stop by. At first, they said it wasn’t a good time, but we quickly found out that their grandmother Miriam had sadly passed away that morning. She had been struggling with some serious health issues for a while. We do praise the Lord that she had accepted Christ on March 22, when Javier, a member of the evangelism team from Mexico, had the opportunity to present the Gospel to her.

In Uruguay, most funerals take place within a day of the death. We offered to spend some time with the family, which they permitted. I had the privilege to speak at the funeral. I was able to give a short Gospel presentation and then invited the people to pray with me if they wanted to accept Christ. When I asked afterwards who had prayed, about 10 people raised their hands. We are thankful for how the Lord worked through this difficult situation.

The family told me that they want to start coming to church again. We are also working to organize weekly in-home Bible studies with two families we know on that side of the city. Please pray for this opportunity.

Visitors

We are thankful for several visitors in June. Roberto had come several months ago for the first time but then came back in June. Luis, who is originally from Venezuela, brought two of his family members, Alejandro and Vianner. They have been coming faithfully. Sara, who is very faithful, invited her friend Carolina. She had been in the hospital recently as a result of being burned. We had been praying for her. During the invitation, she raised her hand for salvation, so Christa explained the Gospel to her. She accepted Christ that Sunday!
