Ron and Laura Back Prayer Letter: Praising God for Health and SafetyGod is so good! I’d like to start off by thanking everyone for your prayers for our safety and health. Laura and I have seen the Lord keep us safe in so many ways; sometimes I feel spoiled and unthankful because I don’t praise our Lord as much as I should. Crime here in Moe is getting to a new level. In the last six years, we have seen several murders in our small town of under 18,000.

After the most recent one, they shut down the street beside Calvary Baptist Church for about six hours to investigate. Directly across the street, there was a homeless Sudanese man murdered by another homeless Sudanese man in broad daylight while Laura was at Vinnies, just two shops up the block. She had personally spoken to these men several times. Unfortunately, every time Laura and I have the opportunity to speak with the homeless population, they are either drunk or drug-affected. In this case, these men involved were only in their 30s. We weren’t able to present a clear Gospel message to them.

All I can think of is how sad it is that these men escaped from Africa and hardness in Sudan to a country where the government paid them to get drunk and drugged up. Now as far as we know, they will spend their eternity in Hell. It is so important for us to take the time to give everyone an opportunity to hear the Gospel. Please pray for the lost people (sleeping hard) homeless to be able to receive Christ. The task is truly great, and I would encourage anyone there in the States to come and visit. It is beautiful here, and you do feel safe, but it is just amazing how Satan is working.

I would also like to take the time to thank you all for your kindness in sending us correspondence and cards. I feel so blessed because many missionaries I talk to would love to receive this type of emotional support. Laura and I still feel like we are a part of each and every one of your church families. From time to time, when the Lord reminds me of one of our churches or pastors, it moves me to start praying and praising God for what you are doing and have done for the Lord and for the “Back Pack.” Laura just celebrated her 57th birthday, and so many of you made it so sweet for her. I can’t say thank you enough.

Please pray for more souls to be saved, new believers to be baptized, and for the church plant I will be helping with in July in Footscray. And please don’t forget to remember Fulham Prison in your prayers.

Sincerely,

Ron Back
