Brian and Liz Hebert Prayer Letter: Bearing Precious SeedThe work continues on! God is blessing the ministry of Biblical counseling with great results, to the glory of God. God’s Word really does change lives, and investing in people is always worth every minute. Our youth ministry is going well, too, with our teenagers well on their way to ending their 90-day challenge in the book of Proverbs. Satan has, unsurprisingly, been fighting them, but I rejoice that some who may not have otherwise read their Bibles until now have been drawing from the well of God’s eternal wisdom on a weekly basis.

We had our Regional Youth Rally in October, with many teens from Southern Ontario in attendance. This meeting marks the beginning of our focus on the book of Ecclesiastes as our guiding theme for the next several months. The messages they hear and the games we play will all center around the meaning of life. Please pray for our quarterly Regional Youth Rallies to grow.

It’s been so good to be able to continue with Byrd in weekly discipleship. He always asks a lot of good questions, and we’re taking our time to go through each doctrine very carefully. We have our meetings at Tim Hortons at 10 a.m. He’s got a long way to go in learning, but we’ll get there. A few weeks ago, I had an interesting encounter after my meeting with Byrd, when as we were saying goodbye, a teenager named Baruch stopped me and asked me questions about Jesus. I spent about 10-15 minutes telling him why I believe He’s the Messiah. I invited him to church, but nothing else came of it until a couple of weeks later when I saw him again. This time, we sat down together and talked about Jesus for an hour. Please pray for this young man.

Near the end of October, we were given an opportunity to get as many New Testaments as we could carry from another church a couple of hours away. I had been using New Testaments as a street-evangelism tool for a while, and this opportunity was too good to pass up, as it would give me five times what I had previously . . . for free! I got started using them right away, and on the first day, God gave me a great meeting with a Muslim man named Saroush. After giving him a New Testament, we had a great conversation about the Gospel. We swapped numbers, and I’m praying that we can meet up soon for a more in-depth witnessing opportunity. Please pray that I would get another chance to meet with him. I have plans to continue to give these Bibles out regularly during the winter months at busy intersections of our city. Also, pray for opportunities to give out the Bibles at some of the universities in our area. The majority of those who will gladly take a Bible to read are young people/young adults. What an open door we have to give out the precious Gospel of Jesus. So many young people tell me they’ve never read the Bible before! Will you please pray for this opportunity?

Lastly, please pray for our upcoming Christmas program. I’ll be acting out a part with two of our teenagers. It’s going well in the practice phase, but please pray that we won’t get too nervous and mess up. Possible embarrassment aside, we really want the message of Jesus to be presented clearly so more will come to know Him.

Pressing toward the mark,

Brian and Liz Hebert
