“This is the LORD’S doing; it is marvellous in our eyes.” (Psalm 118:23)
The BEST Missions Conference is on Labor Day every year at Colonial Baptist Church in Rogers, Arkansas. This year made our 7th Annual BEST Missions Conference. If you missed it, well . . . you missed it. This year’s conference exceeded our expectations. We had been praying for $50,000 for Bibles, and another printing of Thai Soul-Winning New Testaments. We were able to take care of the great need of Bibles in many countries that do not have a copy of the Word of God. The offering for this year’s conference was a little over $78,000. “This is the LORD’S doing; it is marvellous in our eyes.” Please mark your calendar for this annual conference. I know it will be a blessing to you and your people. It is always a blessing to meet many old friends and make some new ones. Please make plans to attend next year’s conference.
The Yoruba Bible Project in Nigeria has been completed and delivered to the Yoruba-speaking churches. Also, the Miskito Bible Project has been delivered to Honduras. BEST Missions has also completed the Bible projects in limited-access countries in Southeast Asia.
I got to preach once again for my good friend, Pastor Joe Taylor, in Fort Smith, Arkansas. What a blessing he and his church have been to me and the ministry!
We were so blessed to spend some time in Longview, Texas, with our good friends from Thailand. The Tim Shook family has been a special family to me and my wife for many years. This was one of the first families to come to Thailand and join us in the work of the ministry in Bangkok.
The month of October found us in the middle of revival. We started off the month with a tent revival in Gladewater, Texas, with our good friend, Pastor Brian Zappa. I was asked to preach Monday night. Pastor Zappa a has been a long-time friend of BEST Missions. He took up an offering for BEST every night and ended the week with $2,213.00 for Bibles for BEST. “This is the LORD’S doing; it is marvellous in our eyes.”
Pastor Zappa has a little girl who fills up one of the BEST change banks every month. She sees the importance of making sure people who have never seen a copy of God’s Word have one.
The third week of October, Grace Baptist Church in Gladewater, Texas, held a revival. My good friend from 40 years ago, Missionary John Brewer, was preaching the services. It is wonderful to see men of God who have not changed over the years. Bro. Brewer is such a preacher.
Then we attended revival services at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Longview, Texas, with Pastor Johnny Pope doing the preaching. I have known Pastor Pope since 1982. His father was my missions teacher at Texas Baptist College and the one responsible for my becoming a missionary.
I also attended the East Texas Baptist Fellowship meeting in Henderson, Texas, where we heard some good preaching. If it is true every preacher needs a little preaching, and it is! We have heard some great preaching this month.
We want to thank each and every one of you who support us and the work we do. We love you and thank God for your friendship and your prayers.
Into all the world,
Brother Bowen
