God is faithful! Here, as in much of the world, the economy is very bad. Over the last year and a half, prices of important things like fuel and groceries have more than quadrupled, and people’s salaries have, in most cases, remained much the same. Yet, in all of this, God is faithful. I think that our midweek service is my favorite because of the time allotted for people to give testimonies. When people who have little to nothing testify about their Saviour’s faithfulness, it reminds me of God’s goodness!
In September, I, along with our associate pastor, went to a village about 1½ hours away to help one of our graduates start a Bible institute in his church. That was the ninth institute that God has helped us to start! It’s wonderful to see a desire of new and old believers alike to learn more about God’s Word and His will for their lives. It is my prayer and desire that God would use these institutes to further train laymen and future church planters! Two of the institutes that were started in 2022 will be graduating their first set of students in the next few months!
During the month of October, we hosted two Bible Club Sundays at the church. On these days, we invited the parents of the children who attend the 30 or so Bible Clubs that are held weekly around the church community. We had many first-time visitors, some returning guests from last year, and everyone heard a clear presentation of the Gospel, with many making the decision to trust Christ alone for salvation!
Also, during the month of October, my wife and I were able to attend two weddings. The beautiful thing about both weddings is that both couples grew up in Gospel-preaching churches, and both of them are in full-time ministry. This is a wonderful testimony of what God has done over the last 40-plus years of independent Baptist church planting in Nigeria!
November 15-17, my wife and I, along with two of our seasoned pastors, will be traveling a few hours away to host a Marriage Seminar. We will be hosting five local pastors and their wives. My hope is that the five couples will come away refreshed, better equipped, and with a new desire to work on and allow God to help their marriages.
Thank you for your continued prayers and support! We know that it takes folks like you to send folks like us!
In His service,
Daniel, Erin, Zeke, and Gianna Lang
