Thank you so much for your prayers for us during the month of January! We kicked the year off at our church with Vacation Bible School! It seems odd to have VBS in January, but in Peru, January is the beginning of summer. This year’s theme was “Cowboys in Space.” Sounds crazy, right? The focus of teaching was from the life of Joseph in Genesis. We had a great turnout, with a lot of new kids and even new families that came to church on Sunday.
The following week, we had a big day at church celebrating our church’s anniversary. We did it up big and rented a giant tent for our main service, as there was no room in the auditorium. The neighbors were kind enough to let us close down the street in order to set up the tent. We had a great day, with 196 in attendance and 22 people making a profession of faith in Christ. We were grateful to have our friend, Pastor Eric Grindstaff, speak for us for the Sunday morning service.
A few days prior, I was able to lead a man named Christian to the Lord. He has family that attends our church and had a small connection with us that way. I was grateful to be able to baptize him on Sunday. He came to church early for the Anniversary Service to help set up. Please pray for him, as we plan to start discipleship together this week.
The week after our Anniversary Service, we had a week of summer school classes for our Bible institute, with Pastor Grindstaff teaching. We ended that week jumping right into Teen Camp. Teen Camp was amazing! We were grateful to be able to be a part of hosting the camp, along with my parents and the rest of Team Peru. This year, 12 churches participated, and there were about 60 new campers. Thirteen of our teens were able to go, and one got the assurance of his salvation! I was able to baptize 2 of our teens as well. Several of our teens made decisions to serve the Lord with their lives. We were grateful to spend some time with Bro. & Mrs. Ricky (Zaida) Torres, who speak for camp each year. The Sunday after camp, I asked our teens to give a testimony about decisions they had made, and it went very well! We’re grateful for everyone who worked so hard to make camp a success.
That pretty much wraps up the month of January! We ask you to please pray for several requests we have. This week, Cassandra will be starting discipleship with a young lady who recently got saved. Please pray as well for a young man named Aaron, whom I was able to lead to the Lord last week. He came to church for the first time on Sunday. Also, we ask prayer for the month of February. We will have a Valentine Banquet at our church and another week of summer school classes at our Bible institute. Then we will finish off the month with Youth Conference and a Fires of Evangelism Conference. Our last prayer request is for my grandpa, who is going through some health problems right now. We are praying for healing and wisdom.
Thank you very much for your prayers and support! We look forward to updating you all again soon with all the Lord is doing here in Peru.
Sincerely,
Zach & Cassandra Foust
