Permits Granted
We praise the Lord that our work visas and resident permits have been granted for another two years! This is a huge answer to prayer. In years past, we have had major trouble getting this permit; but this time around, it was fairly simple, and we were granted them without delay. Thank you for praying for this!
A New Church Is Born
In May, we were privileged to fly to Kigoma, Tanzania, to establish another church. The existing church plant that was started there in 2015 had a burden to start another church in an area about 30 minutes away from them. What a privilege it was to help start this church! I was blessed to be able to baptize the first new convert of this church right there in Lake Tanganyika.
Mother’s Day
Mother’s Day weekend was a blessed one! We had our annual spring Ladies’ Meeting on Friday. This is always a special time for our church ladies and for the many visiting ladies who attend. We praise the Lord that 6 ladies trusted Christ as their personal Saviour during the meeting. Sunday morning, we were excited to honor over 140 mothers for Mother’s Day. They each received a special gift.
20th Anniversary
Thank you to everyone who prayed and supported us for our Anniversary Sunday. It went very well! Our attendance was much higher than we had expected or planned for, but we are thankful that we were able to fit everyone in and had enough food! At the end of the day, we had over 1,850 in church, over 100 salvations, 5 baptized, and over 240 adult first-time visitors. We had special material printed for this special Sunday. Almost all of our church members and our family had special outfits made to commemorate this event. We were blessed to have my parents and Dr. and Mrs. Ray Young with us as well. Dr. Young preached a wonderful message on salvation.
Faith Baptist College Graduation
What an honor it was to see two men graduate from our church college! We had a wonderful service, with both men preaching short sermons as part of the graduation. Dr. Young gave the convocation, reminding them of the importance of being Spirit- led. We are seeking the Lord to continue to use this Bible college to train many others for the cause of Christ.
Salvation Story
Derick began riding our buses to come to church. Just he and his brother attend faithfully. It is so exciting to see his fire for serving the Lord. I teach a boys’ character class every Saturday morning, and we encourage the boys to serve the Lord. Derick shared with me that he recently was at school during his religious instruction class. When the teacher did not show up, he took the opportunity to stand up and share the Gospel. I was amazed when he told me that 29 of his fellow classmates bowed their heads to trust the Lord as their Saviour. Derick feels God wants him to be a pastor, and we are so excited to see what God has for his future.
Busy Summer Ahead
Please be in prayer for the Tanzanian Stadium Crusade that will take place the last Saturday of July. We will also be having our special Soccer Sunday. We are asking God to continue to work during these events.
