Mshama and Martha Kinyonga Prayer Letter: Ministry UpdateCan you believe that summer is quickly coming to an end and school has started?! We pray that you all are well and enjoying the end of this season, as fall is approaching. Rachel has started school in K4, Benjamin is in 1st grade, and Esther is in 10th grade. We are grateful that they can go to a Christian school to learn but also have the opportunity to grow spiritually as well. The Lord continues to bless the ministry in Tanzania. Thank you all for your prayers, as I have been there for the last 6½ weeks. God continues to prove Himself faithful. We appreciate your continued prayers for our family and ministry. I will be headed back Stateside on September 5.

Ministry

We had a great time celebrating our church’s 11th year anniversary. We had over 1,200 people in attendance, with 4 salvations and baptisms too. As most of you know, we try to do weddings as well. A lot of times, folks won’t get married because they feel culturally pressured to feed everyone a big meal, so we try to take the pressure off of them. We tell them that if the church is already feeding folks for a big day, such as the church’s anniversary, Christmas, Resurrection Sunday, etc., then they won’t have to pay for the food. So, during our 11th anniversary celebration, we had 2 weddings. Ultimately, we want God to bless their lives and don’t want them to be tempted to “sin” just because of food.

A few Wednesdays ago, I was driving to my parents’ house to drop them home after church. As I went to turn, the little car in front of me stopped right in the middle of the turn, so I had to stop, of course, and try to go around. However, in that short second, a motorcycle man, whose name was Pascal, was seriously speeding and, by his admission, not paying attention. He crashed right into my car on the passenger side. He smashed his face and his bike, along with my door. I took him to the hospital and also fixed his bike. The next day, I was able to lead him to the Lord. Death was more real to him because, quite literally, he could have died the day before, especially with the speed he was going, and he was sweetly saved. Please pray that Pascal will now grow in the Lord.

Every Saturday, we have soul winning at different areas of our bus route. Each week, our folks have been faithful in coming out to share the Gospel. This past week, we had 180 folks come out to go soul winning, and 25 souls trusted Christ that day. It truly was a good day. Thank you to all who have been faithfully praying that our folks will grow and be grounded. We can see the results of your prayers and God’s blessing being displayed.

Please continue to pray for Martha. We are in a watch-and-wait stage. We thank God that she got her port removed, and the area is healing well. We are praying that the port was what was causing the blood clots, and now that it has been removed, Lord willing, those blood clots will stop appearing.
We love and appreciate you all.

For His glory,

Mshama, Martha, Esther, Benjamin, Rachel, & Sarah Kinyonga
