“For God hath not given us the spirit of fear . . . .” (II Timothy 1:7)
It seems the world is obsessed with fear. The news instigates it, the heathen promote it, and Satan desires it in your life. Fear, however, cannot be allowed to rule in a Christian’s life. As it seems the clouds of threat to freedom and Christianity are darkening around the world, it is important for us to shine the light of Christ brightly. In the last two months, we visited churches from Tennessee to Washington State and back. It encourages me to see so many good, Bible-believing, soul-winning, godly churches across this country. Under various degrees of COVID restrictions, they have all continue to preach the Gospel to their fields. Praise the Lord for God’s faithful pastors and people!
At one church we had the pleasure of going soul winning door to door. It was such a treat to get to go during this time of craziness. We prepared ourselves for the challenge of knocking on a door and not knowing if the person on the other side would get furious or not. When we met with the church, there were a dozen or so people going. I was impressed. Then the pastor explained their creative idea. We would be passing out food-bank flyers for the initial contact and then turning the subject to Christ as the Spirit led. It was a great time. People were extremely receptive to both the food-bank information and the Gospel! T___ was able to lead a man to Christ that day, and many others heard the gospel.
In our traveling, S___ met a lady whose relative lived in a large city in China. This relative was struggling with understanding the Bible and had a sincere desire to know more. Unfortunately, a cult had begun to influence the relative with false doctrine. The lady was very concerned for her relative and asked if there was something we could do to help. Praise the Lord, S___ was able to connect the relative with a good, doctrinally sound missionary we know in that city.
We also continue to disciple young believers in China via whatever safe media possible. We are eager to return and to work with these people face to face. We understand better now what Paul meant when he wrote to the churches that he longed to go to them and see them face to face.
We appreciate your prayers and thoughts as we have traveled around the country. Please continue praying for our traveling safety, for divine appointments, for safety in discipling our Chinese friends, for churches to be burdened about reaching the Chinese, and for the Lord’s timing concerning our return to China. Thank you so much for those who support us financially, as well as prayerfully.
Bound to His service,
