I Corinthians 10:13 says, “There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.” I pray you are doing well when you receive this prayer letter. My family and I are doing well, and we greatly appreciate your prayers.
During the month of August, we were blessed to have a group from Harvest Baptist Church of Hagerstown, Maryland, visit with us. Pastor Steve Rogers and Missionary Jared Gastrock were instrumental in helping us make much-needed repairs to the church in Humacao. We are praying that Missionary Gastrock would be able to complete his deputation and then come and serve in Humacao.
We are thrilled that Ernest was recently saved and obeyed the Lord in believer’s baptism. We immediately started giving Ernest discipleship classes, and it’s such a blessing to watch him growing in the Lord. Ernest’s salvation is an answer to the prayers of his mom, who attends our church faithfully.
During the month of September, we also celebrated my wife’s birthday. Through the years, God has used her to share the Gospel with many. I’m so blessed to have Carolina in my life; she is truly the reason why I’m still here in Puerto Rico.
Right across the highway on the back side of our church, there is a military base. Roosevelt Roads Naval Base has been closed since 2000. Due to all of the tensions going on in the Caribbean, the base is being used once again for training exercises. Many aircraft are constantly flying over our property throughout the day, so we invited them to speak to our students. To my surprise, five Marines, including a pilot, came to speak to our students. We are praying that the base would reopen and give us an opportunity to start a ministry and reach them.
