Proverbs 11:30 says, “The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise.” I pray you are doing well when you receive this prayer letter. My family and I are doing well, and we greatly appreciate your prayers.
Recently, my wife and I were out soul winning and walked by a man by the name of Jose Rodriguez. Mr. Rodriguez was drunk and asked if I could pray for him. He said to me that he wanted to change and was tired of living this way. I told him that I would pray for him, but first, I had something I wanted to share with him. I was able to share the good news of Jesus Christ with him. We both got on our knees in the middle of the sidewalk, and Jose was saved. I’m so thankful that God can save a drunkard.
During the month of July, we conducted our annual Vacation Bible School. We had one of our supporting churches, Harvest Baptist Church, and Pastor Rogers bring a group of young teens from Connecticut to help us with VBS. Many young people and teens were able to attend, and many salvation decisions were made.
I’m so thankful that our three kids are here for Summer Break. Our oldest son Luis is now helping me in the church with our music and in our school, Lighthouse Baptist Academy. Please pray for Jose and Carolina as they return to Hyles-Anderson College. Jose will be in his final year; please help us pray for God’s direction on his life.
I would like to say a special thank you to those who helped financially with a project that needed to be done quickly. Because of many who helped, we were able to connect all of our property bathrooms to the city sewage. I especially want to thank Pastor John Wilkerson and my home church, First Baptist Church of Hammond, for your love and generosity.
May God continue to bless you as you serve Him faithfully. Thank you for being such faithful givers. Thank you for investing in our family and in Puerto Rico. It is truly an honor to serve the Lord in Puerto Rico. Thank you very much for your love, prayers, and faithful support. God bless you.
In Christ,
Luis M. Martinez
