The month of February marks our first full month here in Taree. We spent most of the first couple of weeks unpacking and setting up our home.
On our first Sunday back, I had the honour of taking care of the services while our pastor and his family were away. That same day, we kicked off our first Bible college class. We have seven students enrolled! Our students range from those who grew up in church all their lives to those who were just saved this past year. Please pray for these young people as they use this knowledge for the Lord. I have a great burden for teaching the next generation, as our country has a great shortage of Christian workers. There are many churches here that have pastors who need somebody to take over the work. I am in the process of setting up an online Bible college for the people of Australia. This way, we’ll have a way of training the next generation—wherever they may be.
This past month, our church celebrated its 9th year in existence. The Lord has truly blessed Living Hope Baptist Church over the years, but we know that our best days are still ahead of us. We are already gearing up for a great year towards our 10-year anniversary. Please pray for our church as we seek to find a more permanent place to meet. We would like to rent a building full-time so we can personalise our building more and to accommodate all that we plan to do this year. I have some marketing and technical experience, and I’m honoured to be able to put our church literally on the map, set up a website, put our church on social media, design a new church logo, design a new tract, improve on our livestream capabilities, and improve our PA system and procedures.
I am consistently praying and doing research to find out where God would have us to start our first church. This past Monday, we were able to visit a city called Port Macquarie. It has a population of almost 50,000 people, and there’s not a single independent Baptist church there. Please pray that the Lord would open and close doors in this situation.
Please continue to pray for our city. For the past couple of weeks, it has been raining non-stop, and there are no signs of it stopping. Our area and surrounding areas have been affected by floods. Please pray for the people here.
Thank you for your continued prayers and support!
Your servant in Christ,
Garry Tingson
