I am a couple of weeks late with this update because I wanted to include news of a visit by our FBMI Field Service Representative John Cole and his wife Martha. They spent three jam-packed days with us; and Bro. Cole spoke seven different times to church staff, police officers, shrimp farm workers, and in the midweek service of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church. We were even able to visit the gym where boxer Manny Pacquiao is training for his upcoming fight. The Coles are a very special couple with a servant’s heart for our missionaries.
Mt. Calvary Baptist Church completed a very successful summer with a DVBS program for the children that had over 1,500 in attendance. Youth Camp brought over 35 churches to the property for camp with 700 attendees. We even had a Junior Camp and a Deaf Camp. Our college classes will start next week, where I’ll be teaching two classes weekly.
We were not able to travel to Thailand, but I have scheduled a trip to India and a Middle Eastern country from August 10-19. Brianna and Kay will accompany me, and we are very excited because Brianna has felt called to be a missionary to India for a couple of years. I’ll also make a quick trip to the U.S. at the end of this month to see 3 of my children and 18 of the grandkids. I would appreciate your prayers as this old man travels. I say “old” because I turned 70 earlier this week.
Many of you prayed for Kay’s brother Bud and his battle with brain cancer. That fight is over, as God called him to Heaven on April 1, 2017. Please continue to pray for Kay and for Bud’s wife, children, and grandchildren as they adjust to life without one of the biggest hearted men I have ever known.
Please pray for strength, good health, and wisdom as we begin our 17th year as missionaries to the Philippines and Asia. We thank you for your faithful support and prayers throughout the years. It has been our privilege to represent you.
