The first month of the year is already passed, and I can hardly believe it! Before we know it, July will be here, and half of the year will be gone. Lord willing and support pending, by the time this year comes to a close, we can be making travel plans for Toronto. Thank you for praying along with us for this to happen. We spent the first half of January at home in North Carolina scheduling new meetings, preparing for this trip, and working in the ministry of our church. Through our few years living in North Carolina, we have developed a niche at Liberty Baptist Church in the Teen Soul-Winning Ministry, and we jumped into it several times while we were at home. Sometimes Liz and I go together as partners, but other times, we’re both paired up with a young person who is eager to learn about soul winning. It’s such a joy to invest in the next generation. On January 17, we left home for what is going to be a four-month trip.
Being a favorite stopping point of ours, Frisco City, Alabama, was our next stop. On Wednesday night I got to preach and report back to our supporting church, Lighthouse Baptist Church. Pastor Jarrells is not only a good pastor and supporter of our work, he’s also a good friend. We really love stopping by this church. Ultimately, we were heading to Western Louisiana for the Second Annual Missions Conference of Temple Baptist Church in DeQuincy, Louisiana. We arrived a day early to go soul winning, and it was anything but ordinary—they were excited and on fire to go out reaching people for Christ! The zeal never lightened up as the missions conference carried on that week. Pastor Austin invited Pastor J.D. Weido to be the main conference speaker for that week, and it was a delight. We were blessed to be influenced by his heart for souls.
As we headed toward our next meeting in Texas, we stayed in the prophet’s chamber of a church we visited a year ago, Bible Baptist Church of Hornbeck, Louisiana, and I was asked to preach on a Sunday morning. I did so, and it was great. What became a cherry-on-the-top blessing was the text I received that evening saying that Bible Baptist Church had voted in their evening service to take us on for support. Moreover, what became the hot-fudge-on-the-top-style blessing was the Facebook message I got from another pastor saying that they had also voted in their evening service to take us on for support! Ain’t God good?! No, that’s not good grammar, but it’s the truth! We need this to happen many more times before our dream can come true. Please continue to pray that God will raise up our supporters. If there’s anything I’ve learned in our travels, it is this: God does the amazing and impossible through the most unlikely sources in the most wonderful ways. We’re praying for God to fight for us this year and for Him to do it in a way that can only be explained as His grace and power working through us. Will you join us?
Pressing toward the mark,
