January 31 marked a year since we moved to Ghana, and it’s been an incredible year. I want to take a minute to brag on God. He has done some amazing things. With each person, with each story, we have seen the hand of God working to accomplish His will. We are just grateful He allows us to be a part. In 2017, we were blessed to see 43 Deaf people put their faith in Christ alone for salvation. Our high day was of 33 Deaf people in attendance, and at the end of 2017, we were averaging 25 per Sunday.
I would like to introduce you to Blessing Antwi. She is 12 years old and came to us with ZERO language. She did not even know her name. We wanted to get her in school quickly; unfortunately, the school would not allow her to enroll until the following school year in September. My wife was burdened because she could not tell Blessing about Jesus if she had no language. The day after our visit to the Deaf school, my wife and Miss Janet, the Deaf woman my wife has been discipling, began teaching Blessing in our home. She comes to us four days a week. In less than two months, Blessing has acquired so much language, and we look forward to the day she is capable of understanding the Gospel. We are praying much for God’s will and wisdom in this direction.
God has allowed us to share the Gospel with so many Deaf these last two months. It’s amazing how He prepares people on the way. We had three of our high school students come visiting because they are burdened for their Deaf friends who have yet to receive a clear and accurate presentation of the Gospel. It’s even more amazing to see God bring the right people to the right places. For instance, one Saturday I was visiting with my son. I had recently visited that place, and I thought I would go to do a follow-up. God had other plans. That day I was able to share the Gospel with 4 Deaf men, whom I had never met. One man came in late, but he understood my signs perfectly and began interpreting for the others. All 4 placed their faith in Christ also for salvation. Our God is AWESOME!
We also began baptizing in the month of February. I have purposely taken time to really teach them about baptism and to uproot some false teaching in this area. Praise the Lord! Three have been baptized thus far (our son was one of them), and more are to come!
Thank you for your continued prayers. We need them! We are so thankful to be a part of His work and will here in Ghana! We serve an AMAZING God!
