“And he said unto me,
My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness.
Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.”
II Corinthians 12:9
I feel a little embarrassed preparing this prayer letter, but remain encouraged by Jesus’ own words in the foregoing verse. I’m embarrassed because, since the posting of my previous prayer letter, the existing leg brace which enables me to walk has decided to fail on me. Thankfully, providing it is being worn, I can walk a short distance, such as from my car to the church doors. However, to do any systematic soul winning is nearly impossible, except for targeted visits of prospects. Again, this is due to the dystonia and cerebral palsy impacting my entire right side.
Gracious offers have been made to cover the cost of a new and much stronger leg brace. Thank you to those of you who have approached me. Right now, the question of cost is not the issue; rather, it is procedural, waiting to see an orthopedic this first week of December to validate the complicating issues which are preventing me from being physically mobile. This is crucial regarding my eligibility status for a federal government grant that would cover the entire cost of a suitable replacement if approved.
Praise God, I am scheduled to give an hour-long testimony, including the opportunity to preach, at a church in the next town on December 11. This will be for a group of men who regularly meet for Bible study and fellowship. A saved cousin initially made the invite, though the leader has since been in touch, asking me if I can teach a little on soul winning and how they can reach their local community. Perhaps most pressing is being made aware that some of the men who attend this monthly meeting are not saved. It will therefore behoove me to seize the moment to make a soul-winning challenge in the midst of my testimony.
Prayer Requests
1. Please pray for Holy Spirit leading as I prepare for this upcoming men’s meeting, a unique chance that is rare in such spiritually challenging times as here in Northwest Tasmania. Until the early 1970s, Northwest Tasmania was widely known as a “Bible-belt” when church attendance was high everywhere and souls were being saved under the King James Bible.
2. Pray for the opportunity to witness to my next-door neighbor Ian, who only recently introduced himself and is being gracious in taking out my trash bins each week for curbside pickup. He has taken early retirement, though remains physically active. He has mentioned his “partner,” though she works hours away from here.
3. Pray that leading of church-wide soul winning remains pressing for our church members’ involvement. A couple of existing members, who are not normally present, showed up for this last weekend of November to be involved—an answer to prayer. Amen!
Merry Christmas to you all! Your ongoing support is never underestimated. Thank you again.
All to the glory of God and our wondrous Saviour,
Andrew L. Steers
