“Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.”
Hebrews 12:2
Events in the past few months at Coastline Baptist Church here in Devonport, Tasmania, reflect much of the substance of this verse. Praise the Lord for Calvary, via which Jesus seeks for all to be saved and have eternal security, a security that the world cannot match, guaranteed to anyone who accepts this grand gift. Another is in terms of baptisms. The recent baptisms at Coastline Baptist Church, coupled with the salvation of souls, keep giving our church family plenty of reasons to be joyful, as they should for all of us.
While we persevere in our soul-winning endeavors, few are aware of one little boy named Percival, now six years old and stubborn as all get out, who finally realized his need to accept the gift of salvation. His parents had been praying for this day, encouraging him any which way possible. Just two days prior to his decision to accept Jesus into his heart, he gave an emphatic “no” when asked by his mom if he was ready. It had been a recurring stance from the heart and mind of this little lad. Bless God, never one to give up in such a proposition, suddenly, something clicked; and, glory to God, Percy settled it once and for all. Here he is sitting next to his older cousin Ethan (now nine), who had already gotten saved when he was just five years old. Both are very bright young boys and are thriving in their learning of the Bible and the Godly example in both sets of their parents. Note: Percy was the same boy at age four to miss my wife and me on our way to the airport for Laura’s cancer treatment in Indiana. We later learned from his parents that he had cried for days for not seeing us before leaving.
Prayer Requests
1. That the example of Percy’s recent decision would encourage other children at Coastline Baptist Church to do the same, including each of his own younger siblings in God’s timing
2. That we as a church would continue to see growth in the way of salvations, baptisms, and more folk joining our church, all of which honors our Saviour
3. That my new KAFO leg brace (not one year in use yet) would not give out on me again, after it had to undergo a recent repair—needing to be more careful with it, as I cannot walk without it
Thank you for your ongoing support in the continuing work of making a difference in the lives of people in this far-flung corner of the globe.
All for His glory,
Bro. Andrew L. Steers
