A team from the New Grace Baptist Church in Virginia recently visited us. They helped us with the demolition of an old, dilapidated, termite-ridden, bug-infested building that was on our church property. After the demolition work, we started a fire to burn the remains of the building. What we thought was going to be a simple task almost turned out to be a major disaster!
We, pyro-newbies, thought that burning these old lumbers was going to be a simple task. Well, we were in for a big surprise! The little fire we started got very large and started blazing towards the neighbors’ properties. The fire grew to over 30 feet in height and could be felt from about 50 feet away. All we had to combat it was a little garden hose, three small buckets, and a lot of hands fighting against a quickly blazing fire and unfavorable wind speed and direction.
Everyone joined in the task, and after almost an hour’s battle, we were able to get the fire back under control. The Lord was gracious to us and helped us to prevent what would have been a major disaster. On that note, we would love for some of you to take a missions trip to Jamaica and be a part of these one-of-a-kind, awesome adventures. 😊
In recent months, there has been an outbreak of the mosquito-borne illness called dengue fever. Dengue has been unreported in the medical community but very prevalent in actuality. In fact, before we were aware of the dengue outbreak, most of our family got sick with what I now believe was dengue.
Recently, Bella, a five-year-old girl from our church, passed away after contracting dengue fever. The funeral service was very sad; however, the family was consoled by the hope of seeing her again one day in Heaven! Bella’s death brought great awareness to both our church family and those who attended the funeral that death is not a respecter of persons, regardless of age.
Thank you for your prayers for our Vacation Bible School. We had an amazing group of young people who were eager to learn the Bible. Each day of our VBS was filled with fun games, activities, and an impactful time of Bible teaching. On the final day, several of these young people trusted Christ as their Saviour. One of the persons who really stood out to us was a 12-year-old boy named Paul. After lifting his head from prayer, he said in excitement, “Now all my 12-years’ worth of sins are all gone!” Isn’t it amazing that when we trust Christ, God forgives all our sins, and it doesn’t matter how young or how old we are?!
