“And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel.” (Ephesians 6:19)
The above verse is a life’s verse of mine. Many years ago, I asked for God to give me boldness to witness for Him. Recently, we have been asking for wisdom in witnessing for Him in the language of the people He has called us to reach. Though there are hard hearts in every region of the world, the Gospel is more powerful. I am confident that the many seeds being planted here will abound to much fruit and rewards to the account of all those who have chosen to support us. Praise the Lord for His provision and direction!
Just a couple of weeks ago, St___ and the girls were taking a friend from America to the airport. On the train is a great place for a captive audience. St___ took advantage of the opportunity to get the Gospel to the traveler sitting beside her. While she was working to get the Gospel to this lady, P___ was feeling the Holy Spirit urge her to witness to the passenger beside her. Seeing St___ was very occupied, she took it upon herself to start a conversation. Having received great lessons from her mom, she smoothly found a way into the Gospel message by talking about Christmas. Danica, the lady she was witnessing to, listened as P___ told her the true meaning of Christmas! Before leaving, they said goodbye, and P___ made sure she had a Gospel tract to refer to later. Praise the Lord for a soul-conscious family!
We went to the local tourist area to check on a few things for future plans, and as usual, we passed out tracts along the way. While there, we went to an old Taiwanese fort from the late 1800s. There we met a couple of young men. The one young man delighted in telling me that his name was Y___. They had a rare day off and had chosen to go there to relax because of the beautiful ocean view. As we talked, I mentioned that we were Christians. Y____ mentioned he knew some Christians. From there, I was able to go through a simple Gospel plan with him. He did not want to make a decision at that time but was eager to stay in contact. We have chatted several times since then. Please pray for his schedule to clear so that he can visit our evening Bible study. Also while on that visit, we met a man from Hong Kong named Cl____. He was a third-generation Christian. He was excited to meet us, and we had a great discussion about Christianity and the mainland. He visited our Sunday evening Bible study and was a great help to another visitor that evening. Please pray for the Lord to give wisdom and clear direction on how the Lord’s kingdom can be furthered through these divine connections.
As previously mentioned, we were able to start a bilingual evening Bible study at M___ B___ Church. The Lord has been helping me prepare and teach these studies in Chinese. Just about every week there are visiting people and families. R___ has been leading a kids’ class in Chinese during that time to give the parents an opportunity to focus on the Bible and to give the kids an opportunity to hear the Gospel on their level. Each study ends with the same truth—the Gospel. Please pray that this meeting will be used to lead many to Christ and many more to walk close to Him.
Thank you for all of the prayers, love gifts, and thoughtfulness. We all enjoy seeing cards and letters for our birthdays and our anniversary! It means a lot to know you are thinking of us. Please be in prayer about a Leadership Conference in the Philippines we are considering attending. It has the potential of being a way for us to meet face to face with some of our converts from mainland. Many of them are struggling financially and spiritually. We are prayerfully considering if we could help any of them to afford flying to meet us there. There would be a conference fee, plane tickets, a hotel, and whatever food they would need while they are there. Mainland is not a third-world country, but with the recent economic troubles in the world, many of them are in tight spots financially. Please pray for wisdom concerning this issue, as well as the coming opportunities to share the Gospel at Christmas.
