  • Missionary #6004 Prayer Letter: Let Us Go Forth to Victory“Let us go forth therefore unto him without the camp, bearing his reproach.”
    (Hebrews 13:13)

Though the end of this verse speaks of reproach, the reproach it is referring to is found in the previous verse that tells of the people being sanctified through the blood of Jesus. So, this verse points us in the direction of the Cross and says, “Let us go forth to victory.” As we all serve Jesus in our respective places in the world, let us not forget that we are called to victory.

We’ve had several more busy months in Taiwan. The Lord has been steadily increasing our influence here. We are thankful that He continues to use us. Over the next couple of months, we will be involved in a Thanksgiving outreach, the public-school Christmas outreach, the church Christmas Program, a special Christmas Eve midweek service, and, Lord willing, our own family’s regular Christmas outreach activities. On the field for the holiday season is the greatest place to be! Opportunities to present the Gospel abound in all directions.

We are still overseeing the evening Bible study as well. The first week of October, we had several new visitors. As it turned out, they were four Filipino friends bringing an American friend to our meeting. The four friends were concerned for the salvation of their new friend A___, an American young man from Texas. He had recently joined them for a temporary job in their company. His final location of employment was undetermined at that time. The four friends had witnessed to A___, but his responses were unclear. Though they all knew they had to be up early the next morning, they all agreed to drive over an hour to come to our service for the simple possibility that their friend might get saved. After the Bible study, I had the chance to speak directly with A___. We discussed the Gospel, and A___ realized his need to accept Jesus as his personal Saviour. After understanding his sinful condition, he readily agreed to bow his head and receive forgiveness and eternal life. Around 9:00 p.m., they all piled back into the car for their hour’s drive home, rejoicing at their friend’s decision. As with the four friends who “removed the roof” in the Bible, they had to sacrifice their time in order for their friend to find victory in Jesus.

Just one week later, our team member from Northern Taiwan, came and spoke for the church’s Missions Month. While in town, I took advantage of the opportunity to have him speak in the evening as well. People were excited to hear Bro. F___ speak, and we had a record total of 40 in attendance. Multiple people heard the Gospel message, and many Christians were encouraged. Praise the Lord for His provision and moving in the hearts of the people to come.

Please be in prayer for a Taiwanese couple, J___ and N___. They have been attending our meeting since around March of this year. They are growing spiritually, but they have been meeting many physical challenges during their growth. N___ has an eye condition, for which she had to have surgery last summer. In recent days, J___ had an injury while playing sports. While playing basketball, he fell and injured both kneecaps. He was taken to the hospital, where he found out he had to have surgery to repair some tendons or muscles that had been severed. He now has a brace on both legs because the doctor told him he is not permitted to bend his knees for three months. Please pray for this couple to have peace and determination to go through this trial and for J___’s speedy recovery.

Please also be praying for us to have wisdom and discernment to accomplish the work God has for us to do here. Many people are hesitant about trusting Jesus. Many Christians lack understanding about how to grow in the Lord. Your prayers and support are directly helping the work of the Lord here.

    Bound to His service,

    Missionary #6004
