Mike and Maria Sarver Prayer Letter: Great Questions

Mike and Maria Sarver Prayer Letter: Great Questions“. . . Dost thou believe on the Son of God?” (John 9:35) Questions are so important as we lead others to Christ.

My wife sent me this picture of a student in our Christian school whom she led to Christ today. His name is Agyare (pronounced Ah-jar’-ay). She was working in his learning center. He came to a point in his PACE about his second birth. Maria questioned him and realized he knew quite a bit about the Gospel, but he had never called upon Jesus by faith to save him . . . until today! Now he has a spiritual birthday!

This past Sunday, a rare thing happened—three different people came to me asking to be baptized.
• The first was a teenager named Williams. I have been inviting him to church since May. He finally came for the first time last Sunday. He came again this past Sunday asking for baptism. I questioned him about salvation, and he gave the right answers. As far as I know, he was saved when we preached the Gospel to him back in May.
• The second person to ask me about baptism this past Sunday morning was Stephen Otibu Darko. I invited him to church back in March, and he has been coming ever since. (I found out later that Stephen is brother to Paul Darko, who has been in our church since June 2018. His brother Paul was the first person who started coming to our church as a result of our TV program.) Several people have witnessed to Stephen over these last six months, including myself. Sunday morning, I asked him again about his salvation, and he was still thinking he must do good works to go to Heaven. So, I spent a half hour with him after church explaining things to him again. Then I worked it out to pick him up for the evening service. He came that evening, was clear on salvation, and followed the Lord in baptism.
• The third person was my neighbor, a teenager named Bright. He has been coming with us to the evening services. He goes with his mother to a Methodist church on Sunday mornings. He made a profession of faith at one of our Bible Clubs, but when I questioned him, he was not clear on eternal security. Another soul winner and I each explained salvation to him again. Pray for his understanding and that his mother will allow him to come and be baptized.

This past Saturday, I preached the Gospel at the funeral for the father of one of the children in our church, Nana Kofi. He needs your prayers. His father passed away at just 43 years of age. About a dozen raised their hands to testify that they had just trusted Christ. At the graveside, a man named Stephen Gyamfi thanked me for the preaching. I asked him questions to check his understanding, and he testified that, as a result of the preaching, he is no longer confused about good works, but instead, His faith is now in Jesus alone for salvation.
I am so thankful for the Gospel of Jesus Christ and for His putting us into the ministry!

Thank you for believing in us!
