The best things we have here on the mission field are the signs that God is the One Who is really accomplishing His work. We’ve noticed that the Taiwanese seem harder to the Gospel than the Chinese were. We also have the challenge of not yet being able to speak the language fluently. The negatives don’t really matter though, because we are seeing that, even if our expectations are low, God will do His work and exceed those expectations every time.
Study, Study, Study
Classes are going great as we work hard to speak the language fluently. Recently, W___, R___’s tutor, had a break from college and returned to her home city. She found a new tutor, L___, to help R___ while she was out of town, and L___ was able to find a tutor for me as well in her boyfriend H___. R___ and I have learned, through conversations with them, that L___ is a Christian but H___ is not. L___ hasn’t been in a church for a while, though she is saved. H___ is not a Christian, even though he is familiar with the Gospel. We are praying that H___ will get saved soon and that L___ will grow as a Christian because of the friendships God has brought to all of us.
Easter Service
It has been wonderful to be able to study and prepare with another missionary in Taiwan. The F___ family is here with us, and we’re glad to be helping them get their church started. Resurrection Sunday is coming sooner than we expect, but we’re hopeful to see God bless the same way he did for the Christmas party. We are still meeting in our homes, so pray as Bro. F___ searches for locations to have church. Our list of contacts grows longer each week as we go out to pass out tracts, and we need a place that will have enough space, with rooms for individual classes.
Prayer Requests
Please pray for our family, as I will soon be starting more language classes at a school here. We are still looking for a car to buy and are praying we can find the right one before R___ is due in just a couple of months. Though most importantly, pray for the many Taiwanese people God has brought to us in interesting ways. We feel a great burden for the people God has brought across our paths and are praying that we will be Spirit-filled as we try to lead them closer to Christ. We are encouraged in the little orchestrations that God is doing every day, and we are encouraged in your prayers for us. Know that we are praying for you.
