  • Missionary #6013 Prayer Letter: Upcoming Holiday OutreachesPraise the Lord for the many things we can see Him doing around us and through us! We have been moved into our new church building for a few months now, and there have been many visitors. One in particular that we are excited about is L___ and her mom. L___, of course, is R___’s Chinese tutor. We were concerned because the week they came to the church was the week that all of our talented Chinese speakers happened to be out of town, and the service was left to me. L___ helped me with translation, and our family prayed after that L___ and her mom would have enjoyed the service enough to return. We found out from L___ that she and her mom loved coming. Her mom also wanted L___ to ask us if she is allowed to come without L___, in case there is a Sunday when L___ has to work. Naturally, we said yes!

    Taiwan’s National Day

We had the opportunity to go out this month to a public event for Taiwan’s national birthday, which commemorates the Wuchang uprising that led to the formation of the current government in Taiwan. We were invited by our friend C___. We went to a local park where hundreds had come to form a citizens’ parade. Our kids drew a lot of attention as we walked a couple of miles with the crowd. We met a lot of people and were able to pass out tracts. Pray for God to bring an increase from those efforts, and please continue to pray for C___, who has yet to accept the Gospel or our invitations to church.

    Thanksgiving and Christmas

When we moved to Yilan last year, it was already close in time to these two American holidays. American holidays have always been a great avenue for outreach in Taiwan and China. Last year, we did not have much time to put together anything extravagant, but we were amazed at the dozens of visitors we had, having only been in the city for about a month. This year, we are already preparing for these upcoming holidays, with the hope that many people will be able to hear the Gospel. We’re asking for prayer early as we prepare and go out now. We will be praying for all of you as well, since we know many of you will have similar efforts.

    More Requests

We’ve seen improvement on R___’s health recently, and we thank you for praying. Please continue to pray for her and Baby N___. After a checkup, we were told N___ has a “floppy voice box.” He has been making phlegmy breathing noises since birth, but we found out that he should outgrow this. If not, he will need surgery, but the doctors think this is unlikely because his eating and breathing don’t seem to be affected.

Lastly, please continue to pray for my wife and me while we are studying the language. We have made surprising progress in a short time, and we believe it has been with the Lord’s help. Pray that we will soon be able to have longer and more meaningful conversations with those we meet. Thank you for praying for us, and may God bless you in your faithfulness to Him.

    Here for Him,

    Missionary #6013
