LAWRENCE WILLIAMS FAMILY

MISSIONARY EVANGELIST

ABOUT

Lawrence 12/20

Anniversary 6/30

At the age of 8, I was walking home from school beside the railroad tracks with a few friends, when a guy approached us and showed us how to know for sure that we would go to Heaven when we died.  I bowed my head and trusted Christ to save me.  After graduating from high school, I joined the Marine Corps.  It was during this time that I met a missionary named Joe Rymer who was reaching out to the Marines and getting them in church.  He had a group of guys in a ministry called Souls for the Saviour, who would go out on Friday nights and share the gospel with folks on the street.  I had the privilege of joining these guys for 2 1/2 years.  It was there that I learned to become a soul winner.  Also, while stationed at Camp Pendleton, I went and heard Jack Hyles preach for the first time.  He preached that night on the Fullness of the Holy Spirit, and the night before he preached on Prayer.  I bought both sermons on a cassette tape and listened to them over and over.  Shortly after getting out of the Marines, I surrendered my life to serve God full time and enrolled in Hyles-Anderson College.  After graduating, my wife and I got married, then in September of 1996 I became pastor of the Bible Baptist Church in Carbondale, IL.  After serving there nine years, my wife and I, and our 3 kids moved to Hartford City, Indiana where I taught in a Christian school.  Three years later God led us to join Team Ghana in West Africa. It was there that I had the opportunity to win a multitude of people to Christ, primarily in schools and villages.  After six years, God called our family back to America.  A year later, I was hired to work as an assistant pastor in the evangelism department at First Baptist Church.  During this time, I also had the opportunity to teach personal evangelism in our Bible institute and at Hyles Anderson College.

My wife, Tammy (Sober), was 12 years old, when the Holy Spirit began to work in her heart and convict her of the fact that she was a sinner and was on her way to Hell.  She had already heard the Gospel but had never been saved.  After several sleepless nights of wondering if she would die and wake up in Hell, she, alone, went to the backroom of her house, knelt beside the chair and received Christ as her Saviour.  After graduation from high school, Tammy attended, graduated, and worked as an Assistant Dorm Supervisor at Hyles-Anderson College where we met and were married.  Our children, Charity, Joshua, and Angela are all grown, graduated from Hyles-Anderson College, married, and are all serving the Lord in various capacities along with their spouses. We now have three grandchildren and one on the way.

Currently, we are caring for my wife’s aging parents in Dodge City, Kansas.  However, God has begun to open the door for us to evangelize in several states. While we are a bit “home bound,” we are actively involved in the ministry and soul winning of our home church during the week. Our desire is to still travel on the weekends to raise support and encourage pastors and churches in the areas of revival, missions, and soul winning.  Our plan is to be completely prepared and fully supported by the time the Lord calls Tammy’s parents home to Heaven.  Once that happens, we will go full steam ahead.  Our desire is to encourage pastors and churches here in the United States and around the world.  Our ministry focus is walking with God, being filled with the Holy Spirit, and soul winning.  We also, plan to take trips each year to encourage missionaries and churches abroad. It is our strong desire not only to see souls saved, but also to help people to know God’s will and to carry it out.  Our prayer is that God will bring revival to America, that more laborers will join in the Harvest, and that we together will saturate every nation of the world with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

  • Lawrence and Tammy Williams Prayer Letter: What Must I Do to Be Saved?Acts 16:30-31, “And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved? And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and they house.”

The phone rang around 8:50 on Thursday morning, November, 13, 2025. My father-in-law answered, and a fraud caller was on the other end of the line. He told my father-in-law that he had won a million dollars and proceeded to ask some personal questions. My father-in-law hung up the phone and told me what had just happened. I checked the caller ID and saw the 800 number. When I called back, a man named Ceandrea in Jamaica answered the phone. In just a moment of time, he was telling me that I had won 3 million dollars and proceeded asking personal questions. One question he asked was, “Where do you work?” I told him, “I am self-employed.” He then asked, “What kind of work do you do?” I told him, “I am an evangelist.” He then said, “Oh, I believe in God too.” So I asked him, “Which god?” He said, “Jesus.” I said, “Which one?” He said, “There is only one.” I quoted II Corinthians 11:4 and told him how Paul had warned about another Jesus.

After 42 minutes had passed, our call ended. During our time on the phone, Ceandrea realized he was trusting in “another Jesus,” believing he could earn his way to Heaven by good works. After realizing he was lost and on his way to Hell, Ceandrea then prayed and trusted the true Jesus Christ of the Bible alone to save him. After receiving Christ, Ceandrea asked me to pray for Jamaica, since a hurricane had come through and killed many people and destroyed many homes. Second, he wanted me to pray for his father who was fighting cancer. Then Ceandrea asked for prayer for himself as well.

The story is not over. First Baptist Church in Hammond had recently gotten their radio app set up, so I gave Ceandrea the link. He looked it up while I was on the phone, and I heard Pastor Wilkerson’s voice on the air in the background. Ceandrea was so happy to have contact with a good church and began telling others about this experience. I also reached out to Oral Anderson, a missionary in Jamaica, and he is working on getting in touch with him. Praise the Lord!!

I recently had the privilege of preaching for Pastor Philip Hudson at the Union Baptist Temple in Union, Missouri. The day before, my wife and I were able to lead a man named Daniel to the Lord. Later that day, we set up our canopy and did a Bible giveaway. We gave away 24 Bibles and were able to lead 8 people to Christ. Praise the Lord! Also in November, we had 2 other Bible giveaways. One in Larned, Kansas, with Pastor Josh Shepherd, and another right here in Dodge City. They resulted in 115 Bibles being given out and 9 people trusting Christ as their Saviour.

Please pray for Pastor Shrock here in Dodge City. He has had some major health challenges but is not a quitter. We thank God for Pastor Shrock’s influence in the Dodge City area over the past 21 years. Thank you all so much for your prayers and financial support. We trust God will bless you this Christmas season and give you a happy and fruitful new year as well.

    Sincerely,

    Lawrence Williams
