The Lord has truly been blessing our ministry here in Hua Hin. Specifically, it has been a joy for me to see real spiritual growth in the children who attend church. For the past year, it has been my privilege to lead our Junior Church ministry, and we usually have between 30-35 kids on any given Sunday. February marks the end to the first quarter in 2019, and Prize-Giving Day is always so much fun for the kids and the leaders. The children get points each week for coming, bringing their Bibles, reading the daily Scripture assignments, memorizing the monthly memory verses, and bringing a friend. At the end of each quarter, they may select a prize or prizes that total the number of points they earned over the three months. The hours of time spent in preparation are worth it when I see a child understanding the truths of the Scriptures and putting them into practice. Please pray for our children.
We always take pictures of our church couples on Valentine’s Sunday, but this year the Junior Church kids wanted to get in on the action. Pastor Tim and Miss Missy love our children and know how to have fun with them, and our church kids love them back. I also took the opportunity to snap a photo with the four girls the Heavenly Treasures Orphan Project supports. Since then, we’ve added another girl named Fiat. The girls are doing amazingly well, and I just love seeing them blossom under the love and support they receive at church. If you are interested in getting involved and making a difference in the life of a child, please let me know, and I’ll send you some information. Please pray for our children.
In March, the Junior Church children learned about the armor of God. Each week we focused on a different piece of armor, and the children built their “soldiers” accordingly. At the end of the six weeks, I was able to get the soldiers laminated, and the children took them home to hang on their walls to remind them to put on the whole armor of God daily. Please pray for our children.
In April, we had a Baby Dedication Sunday, and several families made a commitment to raise their children in the ways of the Lord. The next few weeks leading up to Easter Sunday, I spent time teaching the children what happened in the days before the Crucifixion, Jesus’ death on the Cross, and His Resurrection. It was a great opportunity to test the children’s understanding of the Gospel. On one particular Sunday, I asked the children to write down what they remembered about the day they got saved—whom they talked to, where they were at, how old they were, what they did to get saved, and why they did it. For many of the children, it helped solidify their salvation testimony, and for others, it showed them they were not yet saved. After class we had three children accept Christ as their Saviour, three receive the assurance of their salvation, and four got baptized. We had a special Lord’s Supper in our afternoon service so the children could take part for the very first time. It was a very somber but special time for them. Please pray for our children.
April 29 at 11:55 p.m. marked the completion of 11 years serving here in Thailand. What a journey it has been. Thank you, my faithful prayer partners and financial supporters, for staying faithful to me and to the work here in Thailand. I couldn’t do what I do without you! Please continue to pray for me and the work here. Pray for new converts, for growth in new Christians, for health and strength for our church staff, for the needed funds to purchase our own land to build a church, and for more laborers for Thailand. In the words of our Saviour, “The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few.” Come see me in Thailand, and see what great things the Lord is doing!
Serving the Master joyfully,
