Gregg and Angela Schoof Prayer Letter: Lots of Teenagers! These two months were busy as always. I was still in Burundi the first two weeks of July “working” on the radio station, but actually, my workers did all of the work while I was sitting and recovering from a very bad case of malaria. Mid-July, I was well enough to drive back to Uganda and made it in time for the start of Youth Conference at the First Baptist Church of Hammond, Indiana.

We were happy to host about 20 teenagers from a few of the churches we work with. They came on Tuesday and left on Friday. We set up a few tents outside for some of them. They stayed up most of the night watching online and then slept a good part of the day. Angela also organized some games for them to play during breaks. They had a lot of fun.

After one of the preaching times, I had a special invitation time at our house. Several made good decisions, and 2 teenagers got saved. The next day, they had a special testimony time. For one hour, they took turns praising God for salvation, thanking God for the conference and the preaching, and telling of their own testimonies and decisions they had made.

One young lady commented on a preacher’s statement about things being tough in foreign countries. She said she knew of some people who were continually yelled at by their families, or even thrown out of their homes, and some were even beaten because they had turned to Jesus.

At the end of August, we helped in a local Youth Camp. We were able to bring 35 teenagers from 5 churches we work with. They had a great time and made more decisions for God. I preached a sermon and used the rope illustration that represented the length of our lives. I showed about 6 inches of the rope that represented our lives here on earth. Then the rest of the rope that stretched out the door and continued forever was our lives in eternity. The message was, “Don’t sacrifice all of that for the short six inches of life here on earth.” It really got some teenagers’ attention.

These 2 months, we had about 40 visitors to church, 39 saved out soul winning, and 4 baptisms. Please pray for the radio station in Burundi because the radio station is off the air. Just before writing this letter, I got news that our transmitter had died, and we need a new one. That was the transmitter we had been using since 2009 in Rwanda. We need about $6,000 to replace it.

Thank you for your prayers and support.

In His service,

Gregg, Angela, Virginia, Micah, and Zachery Schoof
