I am midway through my sixth decade. So much is behind me (victories and things I cannot change), and so much less is in front of me. Ephesians 5:16 haunts and provokes me: “Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.” The very next verse says, “Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.” I am asking God for vigor, wisdom, and length of days, as well as opportunities to glorify Him. Each month, He presents those opportunities.

Thanks to the sensitivity of two women, A___ and P___ C___, I was introduced to an Iraqi college student named H___. She is intimately interested in Christianity, thanks in part to the discipleship of P___, her friend and classmate. My wife and I were asked to meet H___ for some private studies and answer questions about the Trinity, the deity of Christ, how God could pray to God, and many other questions. After close to four hours of meetings, H___ seems very close to trusting Christ. PLEASE pray for her. She asked for a Bible, so I gave her a brand-new King James Bible with her name embossed on it. She was absolutely thrilled. Lord willing, our meetings will continue!’
Sixteen Saved in July and August!
I was able to see nine people trust Christ during church gatherings this summer. A man I led to Christ died last April of a heart attack. I stopped to visit his son last Saturday and discovered that young man’s mother had died that morning! This young orphaned man saw the sovereign moving of God in bringing us by. I was able to lead him and his girlfriend to Christ. Finally, after preaching at a local nursing home in August, a nurse asked if I could pray with some family members saying their goodbyes to a saved loved one who had attended B___ B___ Church. When I asked if they would like to one day see her again, unanimously, all five said yes. Without hesitation, without blinking, the five of them trusted Christ. What a blessing it was to see God work at such a key moment!
