It turns out that I am bad at estimating the time needed to complete aircraft wiring. It took three months longer than I anticipated to get it all finished. Since February, a friend from our church here in Waco has been working on the wiring. Josh Garcia is an avionics technician who works at L3Harris. He has done an amazing job, and everything looks very professionally done (because it was done by a professional). All of the avionics are now fully operational.
The fuel tanks have been tested, the fuel levels have been calibrated, and the tank covers have been installed. Our mechanic has started the inspections and has completed the wings. We were expecting to be ready to fly now, but he fell at home and broke a few ribs. We are praying that he will be able to continue the inspections soon. I managed to fall and dislocate my right shoulder, but I am now doing well. I was finally able to start the engine for the first time last week. It was very exciting to finally experience this big milestone. After making a few adjustments, I took the plane for a test taxi to check the brake operation and then completed the required 15-minute engine run to verify that everything is working correctly and that full throttle produced the correct RPM. The next step after the inspections is the first test flight. We can’t wait!
Pastor Gallo visited the U.S. for the first time ever in January. He has been back two more times for Missions Conferences in California and Texas. He was here just last week and managed to come visit with us for two days. I put him to work on the plane right away. He had a great time with us, and we were able to discuss our plans and what is happening in Ecuador right now with the new president. Because he is currently in a war with the cartels, Mexicans are currently looked down upon. This is making it harder to get approval to use our runway. For now, we will not be able to use our own runway. We will be shifting back to our original plan of starting in the city of Macas. We will continue to pray that God softens hearts and that we will be allowed to use our runway in the future.
We have had several great days while out soul winning. Jackie and Miley both trusted Christ after Irene talked to them at their door. One day, we had no response at doors. We went to the flea market afterwards, and Enrique happily listened to the Gospel in Spanish and got saved. We went to make a visit with a lady who had come to a service. She lives in a town about 25 minutes away. We couldn’t immediately find the address we were looking for, but there were two teenage boys sitting on their front steps. We stopped and talked to them, and both Adet and Woody trusted Christ as their Saviour. There are always people looking for the truth, and if we let the Holy Spirit guide us, He will lead us to them.

Creo que no soy muy bueno calculando el tiempo que necesite para completar el cableado de la avioneta. Tardé tres meses más de lo previsto en terminarlo. Desde febrero, un amigo de la iglesia aquí en Waco ha estado trabajando en el cableado. Josh García es un técnico de aviónica que trabaja en L3 Harris. Ha hecho un trabajo increíble, y todo parece muy profesional (porque lo hizo un profesional). Toda la aviónica ya está completamente operativa.
Ya he probado los tanques de combustible, calibrado los niveles de combustible y se han instalado las tapas de los tanques. Nuestro mecánico ha comenzado las inspecciones y ha terminado las alas. Esperábamos estar listos para volar ya, pero sufrió una caída en casa y se rompió algunas costillas. Oramos para que pueda continuar con las inspecciones pronto. Yo me caí y me disloqué el hombro derecho, pero ahora estoy mejor. Finalmente pude arrancar el motor por primera vez la semana pasada. Fue muy emocionante para nosotros este gran logro. Después de hacer algunos ajustes, realicé una prueba de rodaje en el avión para comprobar el funcionamiento de los frenos y completé los 15 minutos de operación del motor para verificar que todo funcionara correctamente y que la aceleración a fondo generara las RPM correctas. El siguiente paso después de las inspecciones es el primer vuelo de prueba. ¡Estamos deseando que llegue!
El pastor Gallo visitó Estados Unidos por primera vez en enero. Ha regresado dos veces más para asistir a conferencias misioneras en California y Texas. Estuvo aquí la semana pasada y estuvo visitándonos durante dos días. Lo puse a trabajar en el avión de inmediato. Lo pasó genial con nosotros y pudimos hablar sobre nuestros planes y lo que está sucediendo en Ecuador con el nuevo presidente. Debido a que actualmente está en guerra con los cárteles procedentes de México, los mexicanos no están siendo vistos con buenos ojos. Esto hace difícil que aprueben el uso de la pista de aterrizaje. Por ahora, no podremos usar nuestra propia pista. Hemos regresado a nuestro plan original de comenzar en la ciudad de Macas. Seguiremos orando para que Dios ablande los corazones y nos permita usar nuestra pista en el futuro.
Hemos tenido varios días maravillosos ganando almas. Jackie y Miley confiaron en Cristo después de que Irene les hablara en la puerta de sus casas. Un sábado no tuvimos muchas respuestas y decidimos ir al tianguis. Ahí, Enrique escuchó felizmente el evangelio en español y fue salvo. Otro día fuimos a visitar a una señora que había asistido a un servicio. Vive en un pueblo a unos 25 minutos de la iglesia. No pudimos encontrar la dirección que buscábamos de inmediato, pero había dos adolescentes sentados en la entrada de su casa. Nos detuvimos a hablar con ellos, y tanto Adet como Woody recibieron a Cristo como su salvador. Ellos estaban tan listos para aceptar al Señor y así lo hicieron. Siempre hay gente buscando la verdad, y si dejamos que el Espíritu Santo nos guíe, nos conducirá a ellos.
