I want to start this prayer letter with an item of praise. On July 21, after much anticipation, the Lord allowed us to move into our new house! We were able to live in it as a complete family for a month before Lydia and Charity went off to Bible college. This was only made possible because of the help of so many of you, our dear friends. We have been humbled as you have shown your love for us in so many ways. Thank you.
As I mentioned before, Lydia and Charity are now at Bible college. Lydia is starting her second year at Hyles-Anderson College, and Charity is starting her first. We already miss them and feel the void they have left, but as parents, we couldn’t be more pleased with their desire to serve the Lord and do His will. Once again, so many of you have gone out of your way to help make the transition easier. You have spoiled them and made them feel very loved with your care packages, notes, and words of encouragement. We can’t wait to see them again in December.
Every Thursday night, we go out soul winning at our local park. One Thursday, I was tired after teaching four hours in our Bible institute; and, to be honest, I just wanted to go home and rest. I thought about calling the soul-winning program off, but then I was reminded of the fact that someone almost always gets saved when I just make myself go. Well, this time was no different. The first person I talked to at the park was Daniel, a young married man. He listed very intently as I shared with him the plan of salvation, and he readily received Christ as his Saviour. As I left, he thanked me for taking the time to talk to him.
We recently had the opportunity to host two different church groups. We were able to take each group, on separate occasions, to the biggest public grade school in our town. Because there are so many children, the girls attend classes in the morning, and the boys attend classes in the afternoon. The first group that came had the opportunity to witness to 900 girls, and the second group witnessed to 800 boys. Many of them had already received Christ as their Saviour, but over 200 raised their hand, saying that they received Him for the first time. Paul said in I Corinthians 16:9, “For a great door and effectual is opened unto me, and there are many adversaries.” Please pray for more laborers to go through that door. It is wide open here in Guatemala! Please consider entering before it closes.
His for souls,
Daniel and Misty Wilder, Lydia Charity, Emily, Hannah, Serenity and Benjamin
