Luke 11:1 says, “And it came to pass, that, as he was praying in a certain place, when he ceased, one of his disciples said unto him, Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples.”
I pray you are doing well when you receive this prayer letter. My family and I are doing well, and we greatly appreciate your prayers. We thank God that we are off to a great start in 2017. Our theme for this new year is “More for God in 2017.” I have been teaching our church to pray more, to read our Bibles more, to win more souls and be more soul-conscious, to be more faithful to our church services, and to be more generous in our giving to the Lord’s work and to missions. I have also challenged our church to bring more visitors.
Recently I was out soul winning with my boys and was able to lead a man by the name of William to Christ. On my way out from William’s house, I was able to witness to a lady by the name of Ashley, and with tears in her eyes, she put her trust in Jesus Christ.
A lady from our church was celebrating her birthday. When I called her to congratulate her on her birthday, she told me she was at the hospital with her father Raul. She mentioned to me that he had been in the hospital for several weeks. Then she asked me how to give him the plan of salvation. I immediately rushed to the hospital and shared with him the Gospel. Raul was so receptive to the Gospel and prayed the sinner’s prayer, asking Jesus to save him. His daughter told me that it was the best birthday present she had ever received.
PRAYER REQUESTS
• PLEASE PRAY FOR PUERTO RICO TO BE SAVED!
• Please pray for souls to be saved and baptized.
• Please pray for our church growth and its ministries.
• Please pray for more laborers.
During the month of March, my family and I will be attending a Servants’ Conference at our home church, the First Baptist Church of Hammond, Indiana. Please pray for travel mercies, that God would use us to be a blessing, and that God would speak to our hearts also.
Thank you so much for the birthday cards and gifts for my daughter and me; we were blessed and encouraged by your thoughtfulness. May God continue to bless you as you serve Him faithfully. Thank you very much for your love, prayers, and faithful financial support for the people of Puerto Rico. God bless you.
In Christ,
Luis M. Martinez
