Luke 4:18-19 says, “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.” I pray you are doing well when you receive this prayer letter. My family and I are doing well, and I thank you for loving the people of Puerto Rico.
We ended the year well, and we are off to a really good start. Both churches are doing very well. Many of the workers from our church in Ceiba are helping the church in Humacao, and the workers from the church in Humacao are also helping the church in Ceiba. I call that churches helping churches!
Recently, we had a family emergency in which we had to take our daughter Carolina to the hospital in Fajardo. From there she was rushed to another hospital in San Juan. I was allowed to follow the ambulance in my car, as my wife accompanied my daughter. When we arrived at the hospital, my wife immediately told me that she was able to lead one of the paramedics to Christ; she was from Naguabo, the city right next to Ceiba. The paramedic was very excited and thankful that my wife had shared the Gospel with her.
Shortly after we checked our daughter into the hospital, we were placed in a waiting room alongside three (3) veterans. One of the veterans asked me my name and where was I from. I immediately told him my name and told him I was a preacher. Then he asked if I would preach to them, and I said, “Sure.” I preached the “Romans Road” for about ten (10) minutes, as the veterans were very attentive. Shortly after, all three (3) prayed and received Jesus Christ as their personal Saviour. I also tried witnessing twice to the security guard, who was not ready to be saved, but he did accept the tract I left him. Even during difficult times, there are people ready to be saved.
