This past six months have been a time of transition and redirection for our family and ministry. Throughout the long illness of my son and finally his death to cancer, we have been seeking direction from God. In early April, my wife’s mother became ill and spent some days in the ICU in a hospital in Oklahoma, where Kay is originally from. After being discharged, it became apparent that she was going to need some future help and care. God has shown us that we need to provide that help, so we have relocated to Yukon, Oklahoma, just outside of Oklahoma City. God confirmed our decision by allowing us to sell our house immediately after listing it and then find a house in Oklahoma just a few days later. Yesterday, we arrived here to start a new chapter of life and ministry for A.W.B.M.
We praise the Lord that physical location does not hinder our ability to continue helping Filipino pastors and workers throughout Asia. Although I can no longer make long flights to the Philippines or Asia, God is still allowing us to train, facilitate, and raise funds to help scores of pastors and missionaries over there. I am now confident that our location here in Oklahoma will also give us more opportunities to speak and promote A.W.B.M. to churches here in the Southwest. Please pray with us that God will direct and open doors for us in Missions Conferences and helping local churches with their missions programs. We also have a few projects we would love to raise funds for to help some needy places in the Philippines.
At the end of April, we were privileged to be with Dr. S. C. Schearer and the Heritage Baptist Church in Great Falls, Montana, for their annual Missions Conference. This was the fourth time through the years that I have been able to be with my good friend and this great church. Bro. Schearer and I have preached together in the Philippines, and he visited me when we were in Bacolod City. He was also a great help and encouragement to me through the last days of Chad’s life and Homegoing. His precious wife Marcia went to Heaven just a few weeks before my son. Please pray for both of us as we head down the home stretch in our lives and ministries.
Please pray for Kay and Brianna in the coming days. Bri has finished her senior year and is seeking God’s direction for her life. She will most likely take a gap year and get adjusted to her life here, along with helping Kay as they both try to be a blessing to their mother and grandmother. Please pray especially for strength and wisdom for Kay as she helps to care for her mom.
We all want you to know how much of a blessing you have been to us with your continued prayers and financial support. We count it a privilege to labor together to reach Asia for the Lord.
Sincerely,
The Vests
