Israel and Tonya Alvarez Prayer Letter: Boldness in Sharing the Gospel“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.” (Romans 1:16) Boldness does not come easy to many. It can be a challenge to share the Gospel with all the people God directs into our path, but we are reminded that the Gospel is powerful. Not only can it give us the courage to share our faith with others, but it can change the life of each person who chooses to believe with us. With that knowledge, may we ever march forward, proclaiming His good news to all.

First, we praise our Lord for another year to serve in Him. Since we cannot see the future or what each day might bring, it’s a joy to celebrate the start of a new year. It was a special month in January, as we had eight baptisms. We have a new family that has been attending for almost a year. All five of them decided to get baptized on the same day. It was awesome to see the parents and their three teens grow in their faith together. We have seen many people saved and have had many visitors during these past two months. Our prayer is that they would continue to follow the Lord and share their faith with others.

In February, many like-minded churches got together to have a Youth Rally. There were over 70 teens in attendance. The day was filled with games, preaching, fellowship, and, of course, food. The theme was holiness. Many teenagers made decisions to live for Christ in our fallen world. We plan to continue these meetings once every three months. Please pray that these rallies would reach the youth here.

We had the opportunity of having our first team visit us since before COVID. Pastor Arrington brought a group from his church in Burnet, Texas. They were a blessing to our family. Just by taking the time, money, and effort to visit us encouraged our hearts tremendously. During the time they were here, we were able go out soul winning several times and pass out tracts at Central Park in the middle of town. The group even sang in the middle of the park. Four people trusted Christ there!

Thank you to First Baptist Church of Hammond, Indiana, for the offering to purchase tile for our church building. What a beautiful sight it is to open the church doors and see the beautiful floor. We were also able to do some other projects at the church, which made our building look 100% better. Thank you to each and every one of you who sacrifice to give to missions. Your giving is not in vain, and we are so very thankful.

Belize is our home, and we are honored to serve here. Our children love the village life. Please pray that we would continually allow God to direct our path. Our only desire is that our life here would bring glory to God. We thank our supporting churches and also people who are praying for us. May God bless you all.

Sincerely,

The Alvarez Family
