We are back here in Belize again. When we left the United States in November, the temperature was cold enough to use jackets and socks. We are enjoying the warmer weather with sandals, short sleeves, and sunshine! Our little girls keep saying over and over again how much they love living in this tropical weather. It’s an added blessing to see our children so content in the country where they have grown up.
As mentioned in the last prayer letter, we had our Anniversary Conference in December. Our guest speaker was Pastor Josue Diaz from Honduras. During this 3-day conference, 36 people made a profession of faith in Christ. Our auditorium was packed out with 135 people the Sunday night of our conference. Many visitors have returned after the conference and have started discipleship classes. Our annual Christmas Banquet was also in December and went very well.
We are excited to say that both of the vans we got in the States have made it safely to Belize. Once again, thank you to all who invested in our ministry by donating money to send these vans. They are being used each week to bring people to church. Several of our young men are the van drivers, and it’s a joy to see these young people serving in the ministry.
Our new church plant in the Corozal District is set to have the first service in three weeks. We look forward to giving an update in our next prayer letter as to how the first service goes. We have a few options we are looking at as for as where to begin having the services. We ask that you continue to pray for the details to work out. We have begun to canvass the area and get the news out about the new church. The plan is to begin services once a week, and then after a work is established, we will add Sunday services. Eventually we would like to leave this mission with a Belizean pastor. To glorify God in this exciting journey is our number-one goal.
This April we have a group from Longview Baptist Temple to help us in our annual Soul-Winning Campaign. We will be presenting the Gospel in several schools and villages. We are also planning a big day in our church that Sunday. Can you pray that many souls will be saved during this time?
Our hearts are continually grateful for your prayers and financial support. May you know how much we appreciate the opportunity to live and serve in the country of Belize.
Sincerely,
The Alvarez Family
