  • Charlie and Kay Vest Prayer Letter: Church Anniversary and Project HOPELast month, Gospel Baptist Church of Bacolod City, Philippines, celebrated its 23rd church anniversary. Their soul-winning outreach throughout the month saw over 4,000 souls saved. Praise God for Pastor Felix and his faithful staff and membership as they continue to build on the ministry we started in August 2002.

We are excited to hear from Pastor Israel that the outreach to the Tao-buid tribe of the Mangyan people is expanding. We have been able to make arrangements with a private manufacturer and Christian group to provide solar lights to several indigenous communities. Our unique arrangement with the tribe is that we will supply each home with up to six solar lights in exchange for them allowing us to preach and teach the Word of God to them, along with building and establishing a church. Because Pastor Israel is an outsider, they will only allow Pastor Arnold, a native tribal member who was trained by Israel, to speak to them. As we proceed with this project and they understand and see that Pastor Israel is the provider of the lighting, they will then allow him to preach to them and establish a church. Please pray for Project H.O.P.E. (Help Overcome Poverty with Education) and this phase called “Lights and Love.”

We are also excited to announce that we have begun translating the Foundations of My Faith discipleship booklets into the Tagalog language, which is one of the official languages of the Philippines, alongside English. For years, I have desired to make these lessons available to the Filipino churches. Our hope is to have completed printed booklets within the next six months. Please pray that God supplies the financing needed to complete this task.

Thank you for your prayers and continued support.

    Charlie & Kay Vest
