  • Team Ghana Update: Fruit from Vision ClinicsIn September of last year, we conducted several vision clinics under the direction of Dr. & Mrs. Greg (Linda) Waller of Truth for Today Medical Missions and with the help of a team of 15 on an FBMI missions trip. We held one clinic for those currently attending our church, one for our community, and one for the town of Mamponteng, where our graduate, Pastor Kingsley Addai, pastors. In total, 656 people came through the clinics, and 487 made a decision to believe on Christ. Here are several testimonies of people who have been added to our church because of September’s vision clinics. (The first five are pictured below, left to right.)

Charles Kwaku Amankwaah lives in Bohyen near our church; he is 75 years old. We met him while doing a follow-up visit on his wife Grace, who had attended the vision clinic. Grace had heard the Gospel at the clinic, but she did not fully understand, especially about eternal security. Our men explained things well to her and shared the Gospel with her husband Charles. Both accepted Christ. I made a follow-up visit and shared the Gospel with some of his family members. Since then, Charles has been attending faithfully and has been working on our church’s discipleship lessons.
Joseph Mensah’s daughter Priscilla attended our community clinic and trusted Christ. My staff met Joseph when they visited Priscilla after the clinic. Joseph is 44 years old and lives in nearby Ampambame. He is blind due to severe cataracts. Our staff shared the Gospel with him, and he got saved. Since that time, he has attended faithfully and been baptized. His mother, Auntie Asibi, also trusted Christ; she helps Joseph get to church.
Samuel Kwaku Gyamfi is 72 years old and lives several houses away from the church. He had been attending our church previously but stopped coming due to a stroke; the stroke still affects him. He came to the clinic and heard the Gospel. I made the follow-up visit and was very pleased with his profession of the Gospel. Our church provided him with a walker, and our staff man, Peter Frimpong, gives him a ride each Sunday morning.
Nana Nyarko Gladys is 100 years old and stays close to our family, which is not too far from the church. She came to the vision clinic, heard the Gospel, and understood the message. She has since been baptized and joined the church. She rides with our family to church every Sunday morning. Praise God!
Prince Danso’s wife Akosua Achiaa came to our clinic. When I visited her, I realized she was unclear about salvation. As I was preaching to her, her 58-year-old husband Prince was very ill and lying on the floor, but he was listening to the message! At one point, he asked, “What must someone do to be saved?” Both Prince and Akosua trusted Christ. Some months later, Prince showed up at church and introduced himself to me as the sick man I had visited some time ago. He has now been baptized and is attending all of our services.
Alex Kwaku Bernard came to the vision clinic. He speaks French well, so our Bible college student from Togo, Philemon Houetognon, led him to Christ. He has now been baptized, joined the church, and attends Brother Philemon’s Sunday school class. (Alex is not pictured.)

Praise the Lord for how He has blessed! Pastor Kingsley testifies that he has three folks who are faithfully attending his church now due to the clinic. Our plan is to hold another clinic later this year. We have used some funds that were raised to purchase some equipment so that we can conduct our own clinics. If your church would like to plan a missions trip to help us conduct additional clinics, I would be glad to hear from you. My email address is tspreacher@gmail.com.

    Yours for souls,

    Ted Speer
    Pastor/Team Leader
