On Sunday, October 27, we ordained Pastor Michael Naab for the Gospel ministry. He pastors the Fundamental Baptist Church of Kunsu, which is one of our daughter churches and is at least an hour’s drive from our church. The next day, Pastor Michael moved his family from our church property to the newly renovated “mission house” (parsonage) in Kunsu. This renovation, as well as a washroom facility for the church, was constructed with funds raised by the First Baptist Church of Hammond at their Servants’ Conference earlier this year. Please let me share with you how God brought the Naab family to this point.
Salvation and Bible College
I met Michael when I returned from furlough in July 2017; he had just enrolled in our Bible college. He was reached with the Gospel by the church there in Kunsu. Brother Michael was a part of our Faithful Men program. This is a ministry-training program that allows men to stay on our church property, attend college classes, work on their English, attend my staff meetings, and be fully involved in the ministries of our church. Brother Michael received his bachelor’s degree in August 2021.
Marriage and Working on Staff
After Brother Michael graduated from Bible college, he joined our church staff. On May 17, 2022, he married Cynthia Anabila, a young lady who was reached by our bus ministry. God has blessed them with one child, Cindy. He has been very involved in our school, radio, and information center ministries, and is helping us start a prison ministry.
Fundamental Baptist Church of Kunsu
In May 2021, James Adjabeng, the pastor of the church in Kunsu, passed away unexpectedly. For the next year, our graduate, Pastor Otchere Boachie, served admirably as the interim pastor. During that year, Brother Michael assisted Pastor Boachie. Then in July of last year, we made a change. Pastor Otchere transitioned to starting a church in Offinso, and Pastor Michael began leading the church in Kunsu.
Training Soul Winners
One area in which Pastor Michael has been used of the Lord these last few years is in training others to share the Gospel effectively. He helps us train our college students. One such college student who completed the training earlier this year is Francis Kusi. Recently, the two of them were invited to conduct a Soul-Winning Seminar at Solid Rock Baptist Church in Tema, where they trained 5 pastors and 11 church members.
Prayer Requests
Please be in prayer for Pastor & Mrs. Michael (Cynthia) Naab as they begin this new phase of their ministry. I am very happy that now, instead of traveling back and forth, they get to live among their people. Pray that God would send more laborers to take their place in the ministry here; I would love to have a hundred more Michael Naabs to train and work with. Pray also for the Christiansens, one of our team families. The work they are doing with the children and our Christian school is amazing! Keep up with their ministry at fbmi.org/missionary/christiansenm.
Yours for souls,
Ted Speer
