Dustin came to know Christ as his Saviour at Bethel Baptist Church through the means of an AWANA program when he was in 3rd grade. Dustin’s family was reached by their sending church in 2004 through a VBS program, and they have attended ever since. Dustin was called to full-time Christian service at a First Baptist Church of Hammond Youth Conference. Dustin was called to the mission field at a Shawnee Baptist Church Youth Conference in 11th grade. This eventually led him to study at Hyles-Anderson College, where he majored in missions, minored in pastoral theology, and met his wife Hilda.

Hilda grew up in a pastor’s home and came to know the Lord as her Saviour when she was five years old. She got the assurance of her salvation during her first year at Hyles-Anderson College. Hilda always had a heart for the ministry and told God she would do whatever He wanted her to do, as long as He showed her. She graduated from Hyles-Anderson College with a degree in education and secretarial work and was ready to move home and work at her father’s church in Sacramento, California, but was swept off her feet by her now husband.

  • Dustin and Hilda Schurg Prayer Letter: A Journey of Fellowship and FaithfulnessFebruary took us across the country, beginning at Cornerstone Baptist Church in Emporia, Kansas. It was a joy to reconnect with old college friends and see how God is working in their lives and ministries. From there, we traveled south to Dothan, Alabama, for a powerful Missions Conference at Crossroads Baptist Church. The preaching, fellowship, and shared burden for souls were refreshing to our hearts.

In Madisonville, Kentucky, we finally made it to a rescheduled meeting that had been postponed due to snow—and wouldn’t you know it, it snowed again! But that didn’t stop the faithful members from coming. Seeing their dedication despite the weather was a blessing and a testimony of their love for the Lord.

The month ended with another incredible conference at Grace Baptist Church in Columbus, Georgia. Each meeting and conference was a reminder that God is stirring hearts for missions, and we are grateful for every opportunity to share the burden for Panama He has placed on our hearts.

    Souls Saved and Lives Touched

One of the greatest joys of this month was seeing three people place their faith in Christ! There is nothing like watching the Gospel transform a life, and we rejoice that God is still in the business of saving souls. Beyond that, we had countless opportunities to share the Gospel, planting seeds in the hearts of many.

During Saturday outreach, we had a powerful reminder of the lasting impact of faithfulness in ministry. We met a single mother with two children who, as we spoke, shared something incredible: “I used to ride the bus to that church when I was a kid.” She lit up at the thought of her own children having the same opportunity she once had. We invited her to come, and she was genuinely excited to get her kids in church, just like she had experienced years before.

Moments like this don’t happen by accident. They are the fruit of decades of faithfulness—of church members running buses, knocking doors, and keeping the light of the Gospel shining in their community. What a blessing it was to see a seed planted years ago begin to take root again!

Laboring for the Word of God

This month, we had the privilege of helping to assemble 30,000 John & Romans booklets for Papua New Guinea. I was able to run the cutting press, slicing stacks of Scripture to be distributed to a country where the need for Bibles is overwhelming. As I worked, I thought about how many hands would receive the booklets—how many souls would read the words of life for the very first time. It was a humbling reminder of the power of God’s Word and the importance of getting it into the hands of those who have never had it.

    Growing Support and Growing Family

We are thrilled to share that four more churches took us on for support this month! Each new partner in this ministry is another step closer to getting to the field, and we are overwhelmed by how God is providing.

On the home front, Hilda is doing well as she enters her second trimester. The boys continue to love deputation, affectionately calling it our “long vacation.” They look forward to each new church, each new pastor they meet, and the friendships they make along the way. What a privilege it is to raise our children in the ministry!

    Prayer Requests

More open doors to present the ministry and gain support
Continued safety as we travel through unpredictable weather
Wisdom and preparation for our transition to the mission field
The people of Panama and the Darién Gap—that God would prepare their hearts for the Gospel.

We are so grateful for your faithful prayers and support. Thank you for standing with us as we follow God’s call.

    In Christ,
