Dustin came to know Christ as his Saviour at Bethel Baptist Church through the means of an AWANA program when he was in 3rd grade. Dustin’s family was reached by their sending church in 2004 through a VBS program, and they have attended ever since. Dustin was called to full-time Christian service at a First Baptist Church of Hammond Youth Conference. Dustin was called to the mission field at a Shawnee Baptist Church Youth Conference in 11th grade. This eventually led him to study at Hyles-Anderson College, where he majored in missions, minored in pastoral theology, and met his wife Hilda.

Hilda grew up in a pastor’s home and came to know the Lord as her Saviour when she was five years old. She got the assurance of her salvation during her first year at Hyles-Anderson College. Hilda always had a heart for the ministry and told God she would do whatever He wanted her to do, as long as He showed her. She graduated from Hyles-Anderson College with a degree in education and secretarial work and was ready to move home and work at her father’s church in Sacramento, California, but was swept off her feet by her now husband.

    Dustin and Hilda Schurg Prayer Letter: Officially on Full-Time DeputationWhat a whirlwind of a month it has been. We have officially been on full-time deputation for exactly one month at the time of the writing of this letter. God has continued to prove Himself faithful, and we are so glad to be able to serve.

    RECAP

    We thank God for His mercies, as we have been through 12 states and driven over 3,500 miles. We have also had the pleasure of being in 10 churches. We started the month off at a fiery conference at Iglesia Bautista Cristo es la Roca. We left there challenged and excited to do more for Lord. Our next big stop was First Baptist Church of Long Beach, California. What a blessing it was to be a part of their Missions Conference. The people of FBC Long Beach loved on us and went out of their way to be a blessing in many ways. God is doing miraculous things in Southern California, and we are glad to be partnered with them. We followed up with a very special missions-minded weekend at Hilda’s home church in Sacramento, California! Iglesia Bautista Getsemani was our home church for four years, and it was a blessing to be there on this missions-minded Sunday.
