Typhoons, like hurricanes, are named. Typhoons are so frequent here that sometimes in a year, the names start over again with the letter A. The Philippines have over 7,000 islands. The middle pieces of islands are called the Visayas. This region has had a lot of flooding and deaths this year. We live on Luzon, the large island in the North. Our city is almost in the center of the island up in the mountains. Because of this, our area is prone to landslides. We want to praise the Lord that we are safe and in His hands.

Recently, even during a severe storm, we had our annual All-Night Men’s Prayer Meeting. We had over 24 men come to pray for leaders to be saved, souls to be saved in our community, and souls to be saved around the world. We have done this every year and have seen God work. We pray until 5:30 a.m. and end with breakfast. This is very hard for some men because they go straight to work at 8:00 a.m. Thank the Lord for prayer.

I was out soul winning one day, and I met a college student named Daniel. I told him that Daniel was a name mentioned in the Bible. After 25 minutes of explaining the Gospel plan of salvation, Daniel bowed his head to receive the free gift of salvation. I asked him if he ever heard this before, and he said that he had never heard of salvation by grace through faith. As we parted, I thought to myself, Daniel was rescued from a spiritual lions’ den. Praise God for the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ!

Please pray for our health. There has been some type of “C” virus going around here in the Philippines. All three of us—Kim, AJ, and I—have been sick for a couple of weeks now; we are getting better very slowly. Please pray for complete healing and recovery. Please pray for our Bible studies as we continue to reach out into the community. Recently, in one of our Bible studies, a mother visited and was brought to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.
