At the age of 8, I was walking home from school beside the railroad tracks with a few friends, when a guy approached us and showed us how to know for sure that we would go to Heaven when we died.  I bowed my head and trusted Christ to save me.  After graduating from high school, I joined the Marine Corps.  It was during this time that I met a missionary named Joe Rymer who was reaching out to the Marines and getting them in church.  He had a group of guys in a ministry called Souls for the Saviour, who would go out on Friday nights and share the gospel with folks on the street.  I had the privilege of joining these guys for 2 1/2 years.  It was there that I learned to become a soul winner.  Also, while stationed at Camp Pendleton, I went and heard Jack Hyles preach for the first time.  He preached that night on the Fullness of the Holy Spirit, and the night before he preached on Prayer.  I bought both sermons on a cassette tape and listened to them over and over.  Shortly after getting out of the Marines, I surrendered my life to serve God full time and enrolled in Hyles-Anderson College.  After graduating, my wife and I got married, then in September of 1996 I became pastor of the Bible Baptist Church in Carbondale, IL.  After serving there nine years, my wife and I, and our 3 kids moved to Hartford City, Indiana where I taught in a Christian school.  Three years later God led us to join Team Ghana in West Africa. It was there that I had the opportunity to win a multitude of people to Christ, primarily in schools and villages.  After six years, God called our family back to America.  A year later, I was hired to work as an assistant pastor in the evangelism department at First Baptist Church.  During this time, I also had the opportunity to teach personal evangelism in our Bible institute and at Hyles Anderson College.

My wife, Tammy (Sober), was 12 years old, when the Holy Spirit began to work in her heart and convict her of the fact that she was a sinner and was on her way to Hell.  She had already heard the Gospel but had never been saved.  After several sleepless nights of wondering if she would die and wake up in Hell, she, alone, went to the backroom of her house, knelt beside the chair and received Christ as her Saviour.  After graduation from high school, Tammy attended, graduated, and worked as an Assistant Dorm Supervisor at Hyles-Anderson College where we met and were married.  Our children, Charity, Joshua, and Angela are all grown, graduated from Hyles-Anderson College, married, and are all serving the Lord in various capacities along with their spouses. We now have three grandchildren and one on the way.

Currently, we are caring for my wife’s aging parents in Dodge City, Kansas.  However, God has begun to open the door for us to evangelize in several states. While we are a bit “home bound,” we are actively involved in the ministry and soul winning of our home church during the week. Our desire is to still travel on the weekends to raise support and encourage pastors and churches in the areas of revival, missions, and soul winning.  Our plan is to be completely prepared and fully supported by the time the Lord calls Tammy’s parents home to Heaven.  Once that happens, we will go full steam ahead.  Our desire is to encourage pastors and churches here in the United States and around the world.  Our ministry focus is walking with God, being filled with the Holy Spirit, and soul winning.  We also, plan to take trips each year to encourage missionaries and churches abroad. It is our strong desire not only to see souls saved, but also to help people to know God’s will and to carry it out.  Our prayer is that God will bring revival to America, that more laborers will join in the Harvest, and that we together will saturate every nation of the world with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

  • Lawrence and Tammy Williams Prayer Letter: Bible Giveaways and Bible StudiesPsalm 119:116, “Uphold me according unto thy word, that I may live: and let me not be ashamed of my hope.”

My wife Tammy and I are so grateful for your prayers. God’s grace has been sufficient for each day. This month, in spite of the snowy, cold weather, we were able to conduct two Bible giveaways. One was in a town called Meade, Kansas, and the other again in Cimmaron, Kansas. A total of 16 Bibles were given away, and 4 people trusted Christ as their Saviour.
I had the privilege of preaching for Central Baptist Church in Granite City, Illinois. While out soul winning the day before on another cold day, I met a homeless guy, who didn’t get saved, but he kept me around long enough to see a man named Jerome, who was walking by. I said goodbye to the homeless man and greeted Jerome. He, too, was a former wrestler in high school. We hit it off well, and the Gospel was shared. Jerome bowed his head and trusted Christ. He gave me a long hug and thanked me for sharing the good news with him.

While visiting my new grandson in Indiana, I went to a suit shop to get fitted for a wedding I have been asked to stand in. When I went to the fitting room, I met a lady named Olu. I noticed she had an accent and asked her what country she was from. When she said, “Nigeria,” we hit it off well. I gave her a tract, which she read while I was trying on the suit. When I came out, she had already read the tract. In just a few moments, Olu was bowing her head there in the store and praying to receive Christ. Praise the Lord!

This month, we were also able to start a Bible study in Cimmaron, Kansas. Ten people attended the first meeting, one of whom actually drove 45 minutes to attend. In our second meeting, we had 8 people come. Praise the Lord for one young lady who trusted Christ during this meeting. Please pray for others who have shown interest in coming to be able to come, for some who have come who may not be saved yet to clearly understand the Gospel and to put their trust in Christ alone for salvation, and for us to reach more people with the truth of God’s Word.
Once again, thank you for your prayers for us and for your financial support. We trust that God will continue to bless you and the work you do for Him as well.

    Sincerely,

    Lawrence Williams
