Dustin came to know Christ as his Saviour at Bethel Baptist Church through the means of an AWANA program when he was in 3rd grade. Dustin’s family was reached by their sending church in 2004 through a VBS program, and they have attended ever since. Dustin was called to full-time Christian service at a First Baptist Church of Hammond Youth Conference. Dustin was called to the mission field at a Shawnee Baptist Church Youth Conference in 11th grade. This eventually led him to study at Hyles-Anderson College, where he majored in missions, minored in pastoral theology, and met his wife Hilda.

Hilda grew up in a pastor’s home and came to know the Lord as her Saviour when she was five years old. She got the assurance of her salvation during her first year at Hyles-Anderson College. Hilda always had a heart for the ministry and told God she would do whatever He wanted her to do, as long as He showed her. She graduated from Hyles-Anderson College with a degree in education and secretarial work and was ready to move home and work at her father’s church in Sacramento, California, but was swept off her feet by her now husband.

  • Dustin and Hilda Schurg Prayer Letter: Blessed and Encouraged Along the JourneyWe are grateful for the opportunity to update you on what the Lord has done in our lives from mid-October through mid-December. These past weeks have been full, stretching, and deeply encouraging, and we are thankful for God’s faithfulness every step of the way.

We began this stretch by spending five days with Valley Baptist Church in Mesa, Arizona. The conference, preached by FBMI veteran Dr. Siemer, was a tremendous blessing to our family. God truly used the preaching in our hearts, and we left refreshed and challenged. We are thankful for a church that values solid doctrine and faithful ministry.

From there, we took a quick flight north to be with Bethel Baptist Church and Pastor Dominguez. Sharing the same alma mater made this meeting especially meaningful. The preaching throughout the conference was powerful, and every moment spent with the church family was special to us. Their kindness and hospitality were overwhelming, and we are grateful for the bond God allowed us to form in such a short time.

Next, we traveled across the country to Landmark Baptist Church in Parkersburg, West Virginia. What a marvelous conference that was. The church fed us, encouraged us, and truly loved on us. We left strengthened and blessed. We praise the Lord for their emphasis on soul winning and for being genuinely soul-conscious in their ministry.

Following that meeting, we spent five days with Pastor Kevin Dail at Lakecrest Baptist Church. The church went above and beyond in caring for us, even giving us an early Christmas. The messages preached by Evangelist Chris Dallas were exactly what we needed, and God met with us in a very real way during that week.

Afterward, I had the privilege of preaching at my home and sending church’s conference at Southlake Baptist Church. It is always a joy to be with the people who helped shape my life and ministry. Having grown up in that church, the weekend was especially emotional, and we are forever thankful for their continued love and support.

From there, we traveled to Faith Baptist Church in Richmond, Kentucky, with Pastor Doss. The time spent with this church will never be forgotten. They loved on us deeply, and we felt a genuine bond form that we will always treasure.

Lastly, we were blessed to finally meet with Emmanuel Baptist Church and Pastor McClure. The snow was nearly overwhelming, but the Lord gave safety to everyone as we gathered. God truly met with us during that time. This church holds a special place in our hearts, especially as we know many of the members and count them as neighbors in ministry.

Throughout each of these conferences, we were encouraged by the missionaries we met along the way. Each one holds a special place in our hearts and prayers, and we are thankful for the fellowship and shared burden for the Gospel.

    Praises

We praise the Lord that our baby has reached her three-month milestone and is doing wonderfully. We are also grateful to report that we have seen twelve people saved in the last eight weeks, and we give God all the glory. Many of these opportunities came during moments when it would have been easy not to go out—through extremely inclement weather or unexpected difficulties, yet as we obeyed the Great Commission, the Lord blessed the effort.

We are also thankful to be spending both Thanksgiving and Christmas with my side of the family this year, something we do not take lightly. God has been exceedingly good to us. Finally, we rejoice that several more churches have partnered with us. By our best calculation, we are nearing 70% of our support raised, and we are deeply grateful for the Lord’s provision.

    Prayer Requests

    • Continued Gospel opportunities as we seek to faithfully present Christ
    • Wisdom and open doors as we work to fill our 2026 schedule
    • Safety on the road as we travel during the early winter months of 2026 in the motor home

Thank you for your faithful prayers, encourage

ment, and support. We are humbled to serve the Lord alongside you and are grateful for how He is working through His people.

    With grateful hearts,

    The SCHURG Family

P.S. We joyfully celebrated 9 years married and 11 years together in November!
